Hello I’m a artist myself trying to learn us Copic markers and Prismacolor. This video was very helpful. Another great video would be teaching about values and layering with markers

Thanks for the suggestion, I will work on that. I have another one coming but I have a painting video coming next. I will make sure to talk about layering and values just for you!

First of all, this is amazing! I wanted to try this technique but my colours didn't blend well and just sat on the paper, no matter what type I used. any advice on how to blend it easier?
@GuenevereSchwien Жыл бұрын
Hmm, I used Strathmore Bristol paper, its thicker like card stock, and the ink does soak into it a bit. I used lots of colors that are a shade or two from each other, the stepping up or down in values is the best way to get a gradient. I also did use the clear blending marker on areas that I didn't have the next step in the gradient to try to soften the transition. This doesn't mean you have to run out and buy ALL the colors. You just need to have a few in various colors that go up in value. I always start with the lightest values and then slowly go darker. Hope this helps, maybe someday I can make a video specifically on this topic.use

Brilliant, I never knew this could be done with these pens. Are sharpies the same?
@GuenevereSchwien Жыл бұрын
Sharpies in my experience are not as good at blending but I have also seen some great work done with them. I haven't tried them in any serious way.

Copic markers are easy to use if you know the levels of tone colors..And it's more fun.

They really are quite fun!

Will this fade? If yes tell us how to prevent it from fading
@GuenevereSchwien Жыл бұрын
Yes. Alcohol markers will eventually fade even if they are kept out of sunlight. This is the nature of the pigments used in alcohol inks. If you want your art to last you can scan it or photograph it and make prints. Otherwise I would not suggest using alcohol markers.

@@GuenevereSchwien Fixative can not help? Varnish on spray?
@GuenevereSchwien Жыл бұрын
Nope. It is an issue with the pigments. It has to do with the chemistry of the pigments components. Copic markers are really created for design and communications work, where the goal is to quickly convey visual information that is not meant to last a lifetime.

How many copiecs do you have?? How many for you need to have to draw portraits?
@GuenevereSchwien Жыл бұрын
I have a couple hundred copics but I started with just a few. I plan on making a video using less to help you get started.
