Can you do the mannequin basics in gesture drawing as well?
@ArtofWeiHo9 жыл бұрын
analyticalw Gesture is a little different as it's just to get the pose and action. I wouldn't do the mannequin for that.
@roquehernandez961310 жыл бұрын
Nicely done. But shouldn't you establish the line of action and general proportions of the figure before entering mannaquin mode? Thanks.
@ArtofWeiHo10 жыл бұрын
Hi Roque, I find the line of action more important for gesture drawings or drawings from your imagination. I didn't want to get into that area with this video as the basic mannequin was my main focus. And actually, gesture drawings and creating correct or dynamic pose is very difficult, actually quite advance despite the simplistic lines.

WeiWorks Great video!! Since the neck, arms and legs are "Cylindrical Shapes", what is the Torso? A Cube? And what shape is the waist/underwear? Thanks
@ArtofWeiHo10 жыл бұрын
The torso I use kind of a purse shape. But most shapes will work, even just a rectangle. Same thing for the hip, a simple rectangle would work.
@tinktwiceman10 жыл бұрын
WeiWorks Thank you! I've been watching your videos since yesterday.. But is it safe to say that the "purse shape" is sort of like warped cube if that makes any sense? Also could you please, please, pretty please make a video on make the Mannequin a complete character.. Sort of like you did at the end when you started drawing Thor

if i want to draw cartoon should i practise drawing gesture or Human Figure - Mannequin Basics
@ArtofWeiHo10 жыл бұрын
Time Zaza If you're doing animation or just want a figure to have a good solid pose, then gesture drawings would be good to start with. Getting in the initial pose is important. If you're drawing from reference, then gesture drawing will not be very beneficial.

These are basic shapes that make a bigger figure . Beginner SHOULD do this first, specially if they are drawing from head where its hard to measure and others . These mannequin restrict you from drawing anywhere else(like eyes flying outside the face and others) so your drawing turns out perfect. The better the mannequin the better the overall form
