This is a helpful video for people who play solo D&D with a hexcrawl map. When you generate a new hex’s terrain, you want to keep your symbols fairly simple because you draw them repeatedly, but you want them to look obvious so you can easily tell what they represent.

Great video (as ever) JP. I've drawn up the maps for my first self created game over the last few weeks - all woodland, with trees and fungus, but simple like yours with a 'broken' grid too to use for playing with paper miniatures! I was walking in woodland this morning and took loads of photos for reference for the final maps/zine.

Random thought: Have you ever thought about drawing the Seven Wonders of the world in your art style? Seems like a fun exercise at the least. Also does your world have any Wonders?
@JPCoovert2 жыл бұрын
Fun idea! Flik Silverpen's world probably has many. Haven't considered it in that way though!

How big are theese? If you take the small town and the castle at 9:08. I've been trying to replicate theese, but find it hard to create a replica that doesn't look like shite.

If you're having a hard time with detail, try a thinner pen or draw them bigger! You can get it!

What type of paper do you use/recommend?
@JPCoovert Жыл бұрын
Paper kinda depends on what sort of pens you use. For final illustrations I like smooth Strathmore Bristol Board.
