How to Draw Tree Trunk Bark Textures

Sometimes I learn (the hard way!) that teaching everything at once might not be the smartest idea. I've shown how to make tree trunks a bunch of times...but most of the time there's a fox, clouds, grass, leaves....all kinds of elements to squeeze into a tutorial. But....this new format for me is giving me space to REALLY be helpful for you to learn!

Being a teacher, I know that you believe we can all learn to do these amazing things. My question to you is this: Some people are born with this amazing talent and they continue to develop and perfect it throughout their lives. Others learn to draw and paint like you and continue to develop and perfect it throughout their lives. We were driving up 101 on our way to Port Townsend while I was watching this video and I was checking out the trees. It’s amazing how much an artist sees compared to the average joe! I try to figure out the colors and striations but never get it right. You can bet after watching this video I will do a much better job! Thank you for taking the time to explain this in detail. This is honestly the most helpful tutorial I've ever seen on both drawing trees and using alcohol markers. I have hesitated using Copics because I did not realize you could change the colors so much or fix harsh lines. The tree without the background and after - I have stopped so many times without trying to add a background and what an incredible difference it made. I am also looking forward to your upcoming video on wood drawing techniques. Not trying to be too realistic can be very refreshing sometimes.

Les marqueurs à alcool ne sont pas résistants à la lumière, ils réagiront donc toujours, malheureusement. (j'espère que j'ai bien compris; J'ai accepté de ne pas utiliser Google pour la question, seulement sapin ma réponse! 😂 )
