Are you an artist because if so you are odd all artists are this way except for ones that are lying to themselves because you can always improve that’s one good thing about it is that you always have motivation to improve and the bad thing is that you are never happy with your drawings.

That’s SUPER generalisation. You cannot lump all artists in the same category. I know many artists who’re confident in themselves. Sure they’re not happy with all their works but that doesn’t mean they’re always insecure about their drawings.

@@mason3872 there's a big difference between knowing you can always improve and disliking your art. Stop thinking that for some reason every artist that is "true" to themselves needs to have low confidence. Liking your artwork is fine, it doesn't necessarily mean that you can't improve. Stop being such a gatekeeper.

Good to have a talented artist around who isn't stuck up and posts videos only to showcase their art. I appreciate that you take it slow acknowledging that most of your audience would be beginners. Penny Gardner possibly they mean the people who refuse to help others? especially in a community about sharing and exchanging help considering that the artist wouldn't have gotten to that point without the help of other artists who actually shared their tips and advice. of course though there's a difference between not being able to convey it and outright refusing to help others despite having used helped themselves to 'get good'. rather than stuck up i see it more as selfish if anything

Its stuck for to post a tutorial video with very little except for a showcase for the teachers skill, basically bragging in the form of a tutorial. If you still don't understand because I'm terrible at explaining, it focuses more on the artists skill than what the tutorial/lesson is about. That IS stuck up.

I feel this "paper with depth" method really makes looking at the form in the third dimension way easier rather than the 'old' method using the basic construction and center line indicating the twist. That method feels very flat to me and I start feeling a little confused with the directions. Thanks for this video, and that book.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FORR!!!!!! i wish you would expand more on the human proportion guide.. like how would you the draw the human body guide on side view or 3/4 side view and so on. i see so much tutorial on the human firgure guides but they never show how it would look like on side view. this made me see things clearer on what i need to work on and is a good find but i what i want to know is how you start out your basic human figures but on a more 360 view. thank you so much!

Could you do a couple of these with some animal forms also? Not crazy ones, but a few basic body types like a cat, dog, bird, lizard maybe? Tips like the lightning bolt thing are so helpful, I'd love to see how you do non human things.

I'm happy that your channel exists! Most drawing channels are like "Okay I'm gonna draw the body and then show you how to do this." When sometimes I don't know HOW to draw the body! Really enjoyed this one. I've been looking for a leg up on this very thing (twisting), and this is exactly what I needed to point me in the right direction. I had already started doing this in my own work, and after a lot of trial and error, I would usually work it out. But it was always by accident and I couldn't figure out what was making it work. This basically put a huge flashing light on what I was doing. Thanks for this.

I honestly didn't get a thing you say except the point A and B bit, however i did learn mlre from your examples. It was so easy to understand the shapes and imagine it as a torso as well as to put it into practice. This struck me as having likeness to lessons I've learned from Jazz + Composition: "there are no wrong notes, just try to figure out what you feel like they're expressing or leading to." So, take the time to consider it differently, if only analytically at first. Context & movement is everything!

Thanks for explaining ironically one of the more rare aspects of drawing (being twisting & dynamics) I like to present my drawn figures in mostly dynamic action poses, such as- battle scenes, leaping, running dancing etc, but most advice videos DON'T cater for this, only ever covering standing/seated poses. I would say though that the bending & turning of the skeleton is a better example if more...technical
