I love this spaceship. Great tutorial, Mark. I have designed a spaceship over the last few days. I'm going to draw it today using 1 point perspective. This video shows me how to do it. Thanks a lot for all of your great educational videos.

Your vid. is nicely done. Took me back to high school when a friend in art class loved doing WW I and II war scenes for his comic book stories, and I'd help with tanks while he did planes. Watching this reminded me how much I missed art. I wasn't in the beginning interested in doing comics until helping work with my friend. I started out doing fantasy art ( fan of Boris Vellejo, Julie Bell, Frank Frazetta ). The first album cover of Molly Hatchet, done by Frazetta, I was pulled towards fantasy artwork. Thanks for the inspiration to get back to doing art again.

Unrelated question... How do you draw someone singing? The basic concept is easy, but going deeper, how would you write the lyrics, and what if they're were no lyrics, what would you even write then? How would you be able to represent someone singing well, vs someone singing poorly with a picture alone? How would you convey what emotion the song is supposed to be representing? I guess this kind of thing can be explained in dialogue of characters, but how would you show this in picture alone. Show don't tell kinda thing.

its always nice watching Mark do artwork. i do draw myself but lately, i've been writing stories (because why let Japan have all the fun? jk) and my art skills are rusty. they're good as before but they're kind of rusty since i spent so much time writing instead of practicing drawing. i should get back into drawing at some point...

You can really tell that Crilley wants to turn this drawing into a 3-point or 2-point drawing. He probably didn't mean to, but the fronts of the two side blocks are pointed inward.

To simplify the drawing you intentionally erase 2 other points and make it a 1-point perspective. Joking, love your way of explaining things and making things right.

Could you make a video on drawing effects traditionally? Effects being stuff like fire, ice, smoke and rust. I'm trying to learn it, but all I can find is made digitally and with high use of air brush, which traditionally would mean graffiti paint cans and I don't have any access to that sort of stuff. So doing it with stuff like pastels and coal etc? Thank you! Love your vids and this one turned out as awesome as always! You're a big inspiration and mentor of mine and probably many others'.

Trusty black Prisma color and the sturdy clear ruler xD
@tacticslc48057 жыл бұрын
Oh so the rule is really simple in one point perspective, any other set of lines that are not part of the vanishing point are just parallel to each other? It's really confusing, some lines respond to perspective, others don't, and what about non linear objects? Organic objects?
@drawzinkfilms79787 жыл бұрын
wicked cool
@wolfe19707 жыл бұрын
You say its 1 point perspective, so how did you get the other lines going horizontal ? dont they have a perspective too ?
@markcrilley7 жыл бұрын
Begin with one straight line, then make the others either parallel to that first line, or at a 90-degree angle to it. None of those lines recede toward any point in the distance, so it's a 1-point perspective.

Not to get nit-picky, but 1-point perspective drawing should always have the vanishing point dead center of the page/frame. Otherwise it looks wonky. See this article: www.benzilla.com/?p=3683
