As a black woman myself and a follower of your work for years, it means a lot that you have invited to the podcast two black women in a row. Cheers to that!

I enjoyed the content. Some great tips, ladies. I was shocked, though, that the recommended brand Fold London though expensive, around $675 (Australian) each for a blouse, skirt, or trousers are made predominantly of polyester. Their silk pieces are also lined or trimmed with polyester. $1450.00 for a dress that is made up of almost 50% acrylic and polyester with a 100% acetate and polyester lining. Since watching you all individually, I am so conscious now of the materials used in my clothing.

if you're in that price range I recommend Adam Lippes, because he does really beautiful pieces but will typically line things in cotton or silk as appropriate. For half that, TWP does some good stuff but her line is still working through cut/pattern issues since she just moved manufacturing from the US to China.

In Montréal we are super casual and always has been compared to Toronto,Vancouver and even Calgary even pre-covid. I remember last year being downtown Toronto and be amazed on how people were dressed. BUT women in Montréal are proud to wear their local fashion and wear more colours and patterns. being laidback with our fashion choice doesn't mean you can't be professional and not seen as professional.

I work in retail and there's a whole lot of other issues to consider. Like comfort since I'm standing all day

Same! I work in a bookshop and do a lot of standing and walking, so comfortable shoes in particular are essential!

I am at kinda at the opposite end of this conversation. Having semi retired I no longer have to think about “work dressing’ still need some clothes for presenting but generally this can also double with my going out for lunch or a show clothes. I still have 2 blazers but I have discovered that I love layering jackets boxy/ field/ bomber/ outdoors etc but no longer really am into blazers. Which is a good thing to know.

Awesome podcast! I was surprised to learn that my typical work style is likely smart casual, that really helps me frame my needs in a different way!

I have a question that maybe can be answered either here or another video: Are we actually being judged by what we wear? To what degree? Or is it mostly in our own heads? How much do people actually notice? Other than looking clean and hygiene well maintained, how much do the clothes and styling matter? I just find that it's important to care, but at the same time, there shouldn't be that stressful thinking around it, where it's like: is this outfit good enough? Is this appropriate? What if I'm too underdressed, or overdressed? Like usually our instinct will tell us if something is wrong or right. And in the context of dressing, if it works with the environment or not. Just curious on your thoughts. Thanks.

Wasn't there that woman who wore the same dress to work for 100 days and no one noticed? Styled differently of course, but still lol. It just goes to show!

I used to love dressing for work prior to the pandemic. It sucks to be at home every day and look “homeless”😅

I love your content but would like to see and hear from someone who represents my group. How about hearing from someone in their 70's who are in the style and slow fashion industry. All the faces I see are in their 30's.
