Hey a fellow cynic! :) I agree though very much with what Willy Bee wrote before me. I was actually kind of surprised by Emelie´s taking a stand on that matter. Surprised in a most positive way. Not because of my opinion of Emelie, but beacuse i am so used to youtubers making reviews left right and center, no matter their actual experience or qualification.

martialme84 Thank you for the compliment. It is hard to be a realist and not be a cynic. While I don't believe all people love to do bad things all the time just because of greed. There are enough of them that cynicism is my first choice.... 😆

Here in Florida, our weather generally isn't as extreme. But for the past few winters, we have been getting some very cold and some freezing temperature. I agree with your, there isn't bad weather just bad clothes. As with any situation. If you are prepared the situation won't be so bad. Great video. Good luck with the weight gain, there are healthy way of accomplishing that goal. Take care.

Hi from Pennsylvania USA .great vedio. My brother gave me a good plan to deal with the cold. YOU TAKE THE ENGLISH WORD COLD. C. IS FOR CLEAN.O is for overheat .L is for loose and in layers. D is for dry. What I do from this is this. As soon as I feel I am warming up, I take something of clothing off.When you feel yourself getting cold ,put something on.You do not want to sweat because if you do you will be wet and you do not want to be wet in the cold. thanks again for a great vedio!

Layering is important, but as you say, the materials are what makes it work. Lots of years ago i was wearing 7 Layers of clothing on my upper body (and 2 on my lower body), sitting on an icy wooden bench, on the back of a truck, without cover, doing 70 kph in -15°C weather. And i can say the merino wool long underwear was what saved me.

I enjoyed the video very much. I believe you can never go wrong wearing just wool. Here in Oregon I have been in the woods when it was just pouring buckets of rain and the wool always has been good to me; however if you take it off the wetness will come thru the garment, but as long as you have it on I've always stayed dry. Thank you for you very pleasant chat about clothing. Rob

One thing she could do is tell them to send her the item for her to try it out before she makes a decision on whether to make a video about it. It would be safe for her and the company. If she does not like it she can tell the company she will not review it on video. That way nobody gets hurt. I would recommend that because she could take advantage of additional exposure and revenue.

Great for hiking trips too, as they both pack up into almost nothing and weight hardly anything either, check it out!

A cool piece of Swedish outdoor clothing that I have not seen in other countries outside Europe is the two color outdoors pants. Outdoors pants where the ass and knees are typically black with the rest of the pants maybe olive green.
@TerryMcGearyScotland6 жыл бұрын
Layers obviously the answer. A sensible number of layers if you are camping and not moving a lot. I would be sweating bucketsif climbing a hill even in winter (admittedly never done so at minus 11C : base layer (your 'thermals') plus waterproof jack I find fine if exercising, then fleece when resting/lunching or descending. But it depends on individuals' metabolism. I carry spare fleece, hat etc but never use it. I love that insole tip!

''...and I shall be undressing'' *watches Emilie's subscriber count immediately rocket* I love your videoes and they are really entertaining and educational. I applaud you for saying that you're too thin because you think it's not healthy for you (rather than vanity) and need to gain weight as I have found a lot of women seem to think they are not thin enough even though they are slightly built. It's their choice of course and up to them. (As for me I am really overweight due to an illness and ended up housebound frequently so would like to lose a lot!) About 15 years or so ago I would occasionally do outdoor reviews in a walking magazine, but would feel compelled to say good things about the stuff or the companies would never talk to me again and a lot of it could be junk! I used to snow camp a lot but nowadays as soon as a snowflake hits me I seem to become a magnet for every cold going and my nose fills up with gunge for a week at a time as happened again recently, so I think I shall wait for the warmer weather. However I still learned stuff and enjoyed it. That forest you were in was spectacular. My winter gear is generally Paramo clothing as I have found that the best for me in those conditions. Its a soft shell that breathes well as you have to watch the moisture build up inside especially at that time of year when drying out is harder and hypothermia is a real risk rather than a lesser one in Summer if you get wet. Good luck to you and I await the next video!

Even if I don't go very far I like to gawp at the views for hours on end. Wintertime and dark by 5pm is not enough for me nowadays. I have to have every bright light on in the house all hours or my body decides it wants to hibernate until the clocks go forward again! I think I am part hamster.

Emelie,trying out products for free and giving out your opinion is not a terrible idea,i have friends from other channels that do that kind of thing,they tell the companies they are doing the product reviews for that they will give an honest review.You never know you may get some gear you really like and that may help you down the road someday,and in a way you are helping your viewers also.You could be saving them from a bad product or could steer them towards a good or great item that would be a survival must have.We thank you for your honesty.Take care

Emilie, one of the things I respect about you is your refusal to do product endorsements. I have unsubscribed from many You Tube channels because they were more concerned about making money from endorsements than the original ideas which led them to start making videos. If I wanted to watch video advertisments, I'd just watch TV.
@johncampbell3356 жыл бұрын
On TV the ads are scripted performances from paid actors. On KZbin, the reviews are done by actual end users with experience in the performance of similar products. Some of them are full of crap, but at least there's some with integrity. On TV there is zero. I've seen YT reviews where the free products get two thumbs down. Three examples: gideonstactical, theoutdoorgearreview, and livingsurvival. Legit reviews exist. You just have to find the right people.
