Ya , but only in a drift with fish.

I’ve really only fished a bobber and bead or worm or jig from the bank. Have started learning to use a spinner from the bank. I’m still learning all the different terms, lol. Drift fishing. Side drift fishing. Bobber doggin. Pulling plugs. Reminds me of nursing school when I had to learn all the bones and muscles in the body, lol.

I drift fish a lot. That’s what my fishing buddy started me on. First few years that’s what was my main go to fish set up. Until I ran into this channel and all your tutorials. I seen other people using different set ups but if don’t want to ask them how they were setting up their rigs. So thanks Addicted Fishing for all the work you put into these videos. They really do make a difference in my fishing capabilities.

The first coho I caught drift fishing swam towards me . I didn’t feel it pick it up. I thought my line caught on a sunken tree limb. Started to reel in and then it took off. 😊 I replayed it over and over in my mind after I brought the fish in what it felt like so I could remember that strike sensation.

do you ever use parachute cord with split shot making a silk slinky,cut to whatever length you want and use a lighter to seal the one end,stack your split shot and the last splitshot you squeeze a clasp into it and melt the top around the clasp leaving the barrel part exposed.These are so awesome and will cutdown your snags by more than half!

Thank you Jordan for the fun video, especially while recovering from a serious gallbladder removal. I Respectfully disagree with some of your conclusions and hypotheses. For example, "a long rod of over 9.5' being detrimental to the Sensitivity (feeling the average Subtle takes of Steelhead and Salmon, plus sensing, the weight, bouncing on the bottom)"! Respectfully your hypothesis regarding rod length is Contrary to basic Newtonian physics, but more importantly, not the case in actual practice. After all, in fishing, what determines an opinion/idea as being correct, is if it leads to success!! I'm a retired Fish Pathologist and presently an Outdoor & Science Writer in Oregon. I was Formerly a volunteer consultant for the great late Jay Massey (ODFW fisheries manager for the vast Willamette District, Oregon), while in college I also guided (Part-Time) clients from as far as Scandinavia, for Steelhead, Salmon, Bull Trout and Trophy trout in the high Cascade lakes of Oregon. My first Steelhead Season in 1973 was disastrous, as I caught only 3 Steelhead and 2 Salmon on two Coastal rivers, plus a tributary of the Columbia river😂 As a result I studied nearly everything available on Steelhead and Pacific Salmon behavior!! On my 2nd Winter Steelhead season, I caught 30 Steelhead, plus Coho Salmon and a few Kings as well. Oh I forgot to say that, I've also fished since I was 4 , Originally for resident Brown Trout, and later fly fishing for the Sea-Run Brown trout of Southern Caspian Sea (Salmo trutta caspius). These Caspian anadromous Brown Trout were indeed The Very Largest in the World, and far larger than any in Scandinavia or Argentina 😃 Once on a funky, hand tied Fly with fly rod and fly reel, I was lucky to land one well over 40 Kilo (not pounds) and not being aware of the Consequences, I killed it, but Keep in mind that I did that during an era that even Lee Wulff, had not yet considered "Catch and Release"!! And the darned department of fisheries, was and is Netting for them and they're Very Close to Extinction😢!! My 40 plus Kilo Sea-Run Brown, wasn't even Close to the largets specimen!! I've also been a Fishing rod builder since 1976. I have very fond memories of my friend, the late Gary Loomis, who was Originally the Blank/Rod Engineer for Lamiglas, and of Course later the Original owner of G. Loomis company (the G. is for Gary). The company indeed still produces some of the Finest Rods on the Planet, as well as Lamiglas and Sage. The Original President and "Owner" and Designer of Sage (the late Don Green, was great and generous freind, on Bainbridge Island, Washington). I've also field tested many Lamiglas rods as well. I have well over 100 Old and New Swedish made ABU Garcia Reels plus some rare American made reels, such as Shakespeare, Wright and McGill of Denver etc. Plus 20 or so fly reels, and soon hope to test more Shimano Reels and Rods, made in Japan and report to interested anglers!! I also hope to test a Norwegian 2 handed Fly Rod (a Spey Rod). 😊 Forgive any errors, as I'm typing this on a Crappy phone in bed, without glasses 🤓 Sorry for a few reasons, I buy American and European Rods and Reels; 1- I Strongly believe that they're far better built, or they wouldn't be Copied by the Chinese!! Once a local Commercial Charter-boat, in a friendly argument said, "Hey my Okuma Reels are great, I've Only Rebuilt them an average of 5 times!! I'm yet to rebuild a Swedish ABU Garcia Reel, including a 5000 Ambassaduer Baitcasting level wind, from mid 60s. As for the quality and Technology used in U. S. Made Graphite Rods (Fly, or Conventional), I'm not even willing to make a Compromise 😊 I have a Herrington Sturgeon Rod (I built while working for Johnny Hooker of Johnny's Rods, another Amazing friend, closer to me than my own father!!), this rod flew out of my 4X4 and landed on the Freeway. And 2 other Trucks ran over it. (aside from rewrapping some Ceramic guides), it's perfect and I used in front of my house on the Coast for Sturgeon, where I also caught 2 Hatchery Chinook, right Out of my living room Sliding window (42 and 35 Lbs), while Plunking with Spin n Glo and my hand tied Fly under it. The same fly I use for Back-Bouncing for Chinook in deep holes!! With a slide Variation, I used to Catch 6 to 10 Pound, Sea-Run Cutthroat trout, in the Columbia, Trolling. These magnificent anadromous Cutthroat are Sadly gone!! Maybe if some of us get together, we can Possibly Save the Monster Sea-Running Browns of Caspian Sea, after all the fools kill 100 year old Beluga Sturgeon for Caviar, and Criticize sensible Hunting, which is an imperative part of Sound Management!! The Crack me up!! Now remember that, I don't Kill Elk or Deer to put their heads On The Walls, I just like to harvest 1 Elk and 1 Deer a year to eat. Besides if you knew about the Crap in Beef, such as Bovine Somatotropin hormones, and Subtherapeutic doses of broad-spectrum antibiotics, you wouldn't eat them either, and I Can't afford Organic Beef😉 I got Many international awards for my Scientific discoveries and inventions, but financially-speaking, Science didn't Pan Out for me!! Thanks again Jordan

Have you tried surgical tubing for your pencil lead it does work real good When you are drift fishing for Winter steelhead fishing
@carsonsavage24523 жыл бұрын
For my wait I use tin split shot on the tag end ( three way swivel method) but< I don't tie an overhand knot in the tag to prevent the split shot from being pulled off, this way, When I get hung up I never loose my rig , I only loose my tin split shot and no more trimming pencil lead...just switch shot and reuse them. Its also perfect for quickly adjusting the distance between my beads/fly and the bottom to bring my rig down to cold fish ( leave an extra long tag). This system is awesome for drop shot Nymphing in snaggy mountain streams ;) (I fish mountain streams for trout, grayling and whitefish in Canada.) Tight lines ;)

I disagree with a 6ft leader = bead floating 6 feet up in the water column especially when using fluorocarbon. Fluorocarbon sinks so it will actually pull down the bead depending on how long the rig is drifting in the water. Also the bead does not float even if it was tossed in the water hookless. They are neutrally buoyant. A 6ft leader does keep the bead higher up in the water column until the bead eventually sinks down, though.

It would depend on how strong the current is your fishing in. Faster water may need to go with heavier weight to slow your bait (presentation) down for fish.

Hey guys! I love the channel and the content! I have one question though...How come you guys don't use centerpin reels? It works very well for float fishing with a float/bobber and works for other applications as well. And hopefully, we get to see you guys come up to Toronto Canada soon! Cheers, boys, and tight lines!
@snagrbuster7343 Жыл бұрын
I started fishing with Centerpin reels in early 80s after hunting Moose in B.C., and after much experimenting, I realized that good levelwind Baitcasting reels are far, far Superior!! If I want to feel like I'm fly fishing, then I just do the real thing with a fly rod, fly line, my own hand-tied flies etc.!!!!😉I'm a Scientist, and I'm not at all convinced that Centerpin reels are better!! Try some ABU Garcia Baitcasting reels (Made in Sweden, now only the C3 and C4 are Swedish made)!! I have over 110 of them in my collection, not counting many Spinning reels😊
