Well said. It's one of those things that's really hard to explain because it's so much about feel. I remember being taught to drift way, way back in my teens using a kart. I had a great teacher, but failed over and over to initiate and hold the drift. Then one attempt I got it, and never had a problem again. Once you feel it, it locks in, but it's hard to convey verbally as knowing all the exact steps perfectly, still doesn't quite unlock it.

Best moments of Part 1 for me are 3:17 on the initiation, and 8:28 on maintaining the drift. I'll be watching it over and over again.

I originally wrote a negative comment about this video, but I immediately retracted it once I realized that this video is actually teaching alot in just a short amount of time, which can be easily overwhelming for new drifters. Especially in a game as difficult as gran turismo. I would love to congratulate sim action for this video and its success. It took me about a week, but I was able to get a steady, clean, and balanced drift all the way around the track. My advice to new drifters out there, is to purely pay attention to your foot positioning on the throttle, and make sure you are in a position that gives you the most control. For me, that's my foot fully covering the pedal and giving it the power it needs. Unlike controller, you can't continuously blip the throttle to control the car, you need to keep your foot constantly paying attention to the angle of the vehicle, and let instinct take over the wheel. Thinking too much into it is going to make you spin out or loose control.

Thanks a lot man! Yeah I actually filmed all the driving parts back in May 2022, when I started generating the plot for the video. I had to discontinue the progress later, till I found the best way to include some clear voice-over. My own voice was not working for me, so I was waiting to get some good equipment for clear professional recording. Then lately, I discovered this brilliant realistic sounding AI tool, which is not so perfect but much better than recording my own voice in my opinion. I tested this format in the FFB video guide to see how well will people perceive it. It turned out to be the best performing video on my channel by far. So I became more comfortable with the idea, and relieved that I would not ruin the info with some bad execution you know. I'm so glad that people are liking it and I hope it goes as viral as it deserves. I know this deserves to charge money for, but I don't think anyone would even try it without any proof that it's worth it. Right now my goal is to well establish my channel and make it the number one destination for people looking for Gran Turismo content. It's not even monetized yet, so that's the first milestone to conquer. After the success of the FFB video which has generated 879 view hours by itself until this moment and still going, I think the required 4000 view hours for monetization are now very easy to accomplish with this drifting series. Thank you for your nice comment, and for your continuous support! 🤟🏻🤟🏻

@@SimActionClips Do you mind sharing which AI voice generation tool did you use? It's really good! I tried to find one but none were good and free. Good luck with monetizing your content, you deserve the reward. I used to get some reward from my channel too (all lacked voice narration), but nowadays I'm busy with family so I neglected my account and was already demonetized by KZbin. Oh well, too bad!

Sure man it's this website: www.synthesia.io I had to do some tricks though, cause the free version gives you only a limited number of characters to type, and you can't even download the clip when it's done, unless you have a paid subscription. So I had to download a cracked version of Movavi Screen Recorder to capture the sound. I open my generated short clips in different browser tabs and play them back to back while recording. I then adjust the spacing in the video editor. It takes more time this way but it's still much easier and faster than recording my own voice lol. Thanks for your kind wishes bro! Yeah I feel you since I barely have time to do the things I want myself. But that's life.
@fyresg Жыл бұрын
@@SimActionClips yup, I've tried these free websites and indeed, lots of limitations for the free demo! I was able to extract the audio out of the video easily with free tools like VLC player or Handbrake; didn't have to do screen recording. But it is painful to combine them altogether. Amazing to know you've went this far to get the narration in, hats off to you!

haha well many people tell me I should charge money for these lessons. I just want to grow my channel as big as possible for now. You're absolutely right and there is more to it... one should start learning with road cars and later switch to pro drift cars to avoid developing bad habits. Like you said road cars teach you how to maintain the momentum which translates to smoother and better planned drifting in pro cars. And using angle kits while learning is a big no go to me as they are widely used the wrong way these days. One should start without an angle kit and switch to using it the right way after mastering everything about drifting without it. It leads to much cooler looking smooth drifting later.

I just want to say thanks a great deal. I finally started to be able to do your first part of the tutorial to be able to initiate a drift and counter steer without spinning out. Even though my q55 prism tv has no Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM). haha. It is do-able. I finally realise that you did not turn in hard before you blip your throttle. You were turning the steering wheel at fixed angle to keep up with the circle and maintaining your speed around 64km/h plus minus. After which, you have to feel whether the car starts to be at the point where the tyres are at its limit before drifting through the feedback of the wheel. That is the point where you depress fully on the throttle and release totally in a moment while faster helping my g923 wheel to counter steer in the opposite direction before turning back to face the front. To be able to do it multiple times round the big circle makes me excited! Thank you once again for this tutorial! You are awesome❤
@SimActionClips Жыл бұрын
You're welcome! That's some great news man! Yeah it is do-able for sure. I actually learned everything I know with high latency on my older Samsung TV. It wasn't until last year that I had ALLM. But it does make it much easier and much more controllable. Yes that's a good description of what's going on, seems you got it well figured out. Just one point about the front tires before initiation. I wouldn't say they're at their limit, they're somewhere near maximum grip. You can feel it with heavier ffb, if you try to change your steering angle at that moment. Being able to feel it right also helps a lot in racing and hot laps, as you would be able to judge the level of grip at the front and also use it for good slip angle while trail-braking. I will be better covering this particular case in detail in future videos. I'm so glad I could help this much, and I know how good it feels when you start getting the hang of it. That's really awesome! Thank you for your feedback and taking the time to share this, this means a lot! 🤟🏻🤟🏻❤

GT7 is super hard to learn drifting in compared to most sims out there. Don’t be discouraged. I’m on a T-GT2 and I’m sucking BAD at drifting as well. It just takes a lot of time to learn this skill. The car you use also matters a alot. Almost all the typical drift cars are SUPER twitchy. This BMW used here is so much easier. And some of the american muscle cars are even easier than this. Big cars are like drifting in slow motion. Much easier. Like driving a boat.. whereas the ae86 and silvias etc are super duper squirrely. High power engines are also an absolute disaster for newbies. Same with high RPM turbos.. where all the power just kicks in after 5k.. so hard to control. A car with about 200hp and no turbo will have the smoothest power band for newbie drifting. Keep at it, you will improve :)

(The previous comment somehow didn’t get uploaded) Firstly, thank you for the detailed informative video. I am having trouble keep the speed and momentum. I have practiced over 10 hours now, I can initiate the drift no problem. But I cant keep the car going. I first turn slightly at around 55-60 km/hr, blip the throttle and the rear goes out, the steering will turn, I then catch it (I don’t put down throttle while the wheel is turning or it will spin). I then apply throttle smoothly, it may drift for a tiny tiny bit and then it will loose speed and bogged down. Even if I give it more throttle, the rev will not go up. If I give more throttle during the whole process it will just spin. I have been doing the same thing over and over again and am not improving whatsoever. I have the g923 wheel setting set at 10 10 1 as your updated tutorial says. I would appreciate it if someone can point me at the right direction. 😭

It will take some time at first to get the hang of it, so be patient man. Mainly, you need to focus on being as gentle and smooth as possible with your input changes. A good idea would also be to film yourself (showing your inputs clearly) and watch what you're doing wrong in the video. When caught up in the moment we can't see everything very clearly like watching things from a distance. My biggest issue is that I am losing control after I exit the drift. I don’t know what to do to stabilise the car after the drift so it doesn’t spin. For instance I go for a left drift as shown in the example in 6:25 and after I exit the drift my car goes spinning to the right. I know I am doing something wrong either with the throttle or with the wheel but I don’t know what exactly. I tried monitoring my gameplay with a controller since I am not having problems drifting with it but I still can’t find the problem. My top priority when it comes to learning how to drift in sim racing games is that I am losing control over the vehicle in races and I can gain control back on a controller but not on a wheel🫤.

Thanks for this great tutorial! You explained it very thoroughly. Can I ask a few more questions? 1) I have M3 '07 and Nissan S15 tuned and set exactly like your S14 (in your part 2 tutorial).... which one would you recommend for beginners? 2) When initiate a drift, after the rear starts spinning out, do you just let go the steeeing wheel to let it turn back or you physically turn it back? 3) I'm still far from drifting 😅 .... I keep having a problem of either the car straightened out or spinning.
@SimActionClips11 ай бұрын
Hello, you're welcome man, and thank you! 1) I don't think the tune of the S14 will work exactly the same on the S15, but I'm not sure how good it can be, need to test that. I would recommend both he the S14 and the M3 for beginners along with many other similar cars like this stock brz: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4iqd5mYnJydmrc However, taking the same specific car for each tutorial as a start is a good idea, i.e. the M3 for part 1 and the S14 for part 2, then trying different low to mid powered cars later. 2) It depends on your steering wheel. I can just let go of the TGT2 most of the time with the right settings, but I can rarely do that with the G29 and need to help it a lot more. 3) That's very normal for everyone to experience when new to drifting. It took me many days to start to get the hang of it back when I started, and it can take weeks and more than a month which is still very normal because it's a new physical skill that requires muscle memory. So you need to keep training your body and brain for it to become part of your physical habits. Also, and this is very important to be much more in control, USE A HEADSET or at least some earphones. Never use the speakers of your TV unless you're using the fiber optic connection for audio from the PS4. The difference in audio delay can be immediately felt, and the initial delay from the speakers completely ruins your input timing. This alone can reduce your frustration dramatically.

This is the single best drifting instruction video I have ever seen. I have a G29 and 2 weeks ago I watched this video and started learning. Now I can constantly drift counter-clockwise with the M3. This is thanks to you! I'm really keen to see the next part of this "course". I'm thinking about upgrading to the Fanatec GT DD Pro wheelbase with the CSL Elite WRC wheel. I'm wondering should the controller sensitivity be set to 5 also with other wheels than G29? 🤔
@SimActionClips Жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot man! This is really awesome I'm really glad I could help this much! Yes the controller sensitivity setting should be set to 5 for all steering wheels to work best. You can watch this video if you wanna know in detail why I set the values this way: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXbIZo2ZndaVg8k I also have a Thrustmaster TGT2 and use it with this setting set to 5. I've even spent the day further testing and tweaking things, just to confirm to myself that all the FFB settings still work the same after the new update 1.31, and they all do.

You're welcome and thank you! Do you mean the force feedback sensitivity or the max torque? I don't think the force feedback sensitivity at 10 will not damage any steering wheel. At least not the G29 nor the TGT2 nor anything in between these 2 like your t300. As for max torque I'm only recommending 10 for the G29, I don't think the t300 will need it to be this high. I have on 6 for the TGT2 and 10 for the G29, so the t300 should require something in between.

So I must not be doing something right because I have tried to start from a slow role and blip the throttle but everytime iI do it always seems that the car grips to much and does'nt make the back tire slip any suggestions on how to improve this?
@christiandominy296011 ай бұрын
Like what speed and in what gear would you be looking for to initiate the slide?
@SimActionClips11 ай бұрын
Well first of all don't have the expectation to immediately succeed with it, as this can take you a whole week of daily practice to even start to get used to it. So what you're describing can be very normal and just require more practice to fix. Try different speeds until you find the sweet spot, it's always the best way to learn. That speed depends more on which car you're driving and even which tires you're using so it's gonna change for each situation. It's not something to memorize or even monitor in numbers while driving because it's not a constant factor. You just need to practice a lot to get to a point where you can feel and anticipate how the car will behave. If you’re new to this I highly recommend that you keep practicing a lot, and on a daily basis if possible. Keep trying to initiate and learn what's happening during the process. It will be frustrating and can even feel impossible at first and that's totally normal trust me. If it takes you a month to only start to get the hang of it that's still very normal. In this exercise and using that M3 in default setup I kept it in 2nd gear all the way. And btw you can try different initiation techniques and see wich one suits you best, but I think this is the simplest and easier one. All the other techniques are explained in part2 which I've just published around 13 hours ago: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3_FaJlri990aKc Also which wheel are you using and did you try my recommended ffb settings?
@christiandominy296011 ай бұрын
Ok thank you and yes I am using the ffb for the g29 and I will keep daily practice one thing that was making it harder for me was the traction control but now that I turned that off I am able to slide a lot easier now thank you for the feedback!
@SimActionClips10 ай бұрын
Oh that was the problem! you should always turn the traction control completely off to drift, also turn all other assists off except for ABS because these totally ruin your control over the car, I even mentioned that at the end of the video. I currently use ABS on "weak" but it's totally fine to keep it on default if you like. You're always welcome and thank you too for your feedback 🤟🏻🤟🏻

Thanks man and you're welcome! I would be really glad to help anyone succeed and I really hope this helps. I know where you're coming when comparing it to controller. I started drifting with controller on PS2 in Enthusia and GT4. I switched to drifting with a wheel on GT5 using the Logitech Driving Force GT. It felt like i had no idea what to do, and I felt like I was physically incapable of doing it. It's just normal at first and takes some time to build it as one of your habits. You just need to stay patient and keep practicing. It will all come to you by itself. It made a drifter in real life, able to beat anyone who doesn't practice on a sim.
@GeorgePatsonas Жыл бұрын
@@SimActionClips I bought a steering wheel 3 months ago. At first I couldn't even turn in a race without going off the track. when I started learning I found that for so long I was driving wrong even with the controller. And even worse, I realized that I was wrong even in the actual driving that I have now improved. However, things that I do comfortably on the controller are impossible with the steering wheel. But I won't give up, I've played close to 400 hours on gt7 and I hope something comes out of it. Thanks again for the video and like I said I'm looking forward to the next part.

Yes man everything you said is very normal. On top of that, I even kept on developing and improving my driving for years and getting rid of so many bad habits. For example i qualified and was a finalist in GT Academy International 2014, after already being a competitor in the local drifting championship. I was really good compared to others. Yet still, it wasn't until around 3 years ago that I got rid of so many bad habits in my driving and improved my laptimes by so much just by eliminating things that used to do wrong. This is the best, and most informative tutorial I have ever watched, thank you, I understand the theory now. BUT, I just think I´m to impatient, I tried. HARD for half an hour, the first minutes I couldnt even get it to slide, then I remembered, I have the TCS on 3 (after the new update I unfortunately had to change from 1 to 3, because I´m to agressive with the throttle) I find it hard to cope with changes 🙈 Well, I give up for now, either that, og brake something 😆😇, after I set the TCS to "0", the car just spun,..I cant figure out how to catch it?🤔, but its me, not your exellent tutorial,….it looks so easy in the video, and when LZ does it in real life, I have to practice, a lot 😆 But thank you again, this made it easy to understand the basics.🙏🏻😃

What forcefeedback setting did you put at 1 and why? I didn't get that. These are my recommended settings for the G29: - Controller Steering Sensitivity: 5 (very important for all wheel users) - Max Torque: 10 - Force Feedback Sensitivity: 10 Also go to the main menu and click on the GT icon at the top left corner, then click on options > controllers > vibration function > vibration strength, and set it to zero. This setting gives you more vibration details but the more vibrations you get the more numb the steering wheel feels in terms of sensitivity to direction changes. And you need every bit of responsiveness to direction changes to react faster to these. Also keep in mind that this takes time to get used to doing it right. You need to keep trying and failing until you start getting it right. I don't know what's happening in your case, I need to see it, but maybe you're going to fast at the initiation that the rear end is not stepping out?

Thanks a lot man! The car in this tutorial is fully in default setup, and there was no tuning of the gear ratios. It's much better to do it in manual for sure. One of the key controls during more advanced drifting is to know when to shift your gears mid-drift, which is something that I will surely cover in the coming parts of the tutorial. In this particular exercise, I was always in 2nd gear. A good suggestion to better feel when you break traction and the rear end starts to step out, is to use the right force feedback settings for it. Did you try my settings? - Controller steering sensitivity: 5 - force feedback sensitivity: 10 I set max torque at 10 or the G29 and 6 for the TGT2 so you should set yours somewhere in between. You can watch this video for more details: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXbIZo2ZndaVg8k I think with enough max torque the T300 should be able to rotate fast enough on its own during transitions. Practice letting go of it at the right time at the beginning of the transition an let it do the rotation on its own and see how it goes. I'll be explaining this in more details in the videos. Meanwhile, try watching real drifting videos and see how it gets done. A direct drive will surely help a lot especially with transitions. I wanted a Fanatec DD Pro but couldn't get one so I settled fir the TGT2 for now. Didn't try any VR yet but surely planning on getting a PSVR2. It should feel very realistic from what I'm seeing. Well honestly, it definitely is a get good moment. And Don't start learning with a fast car as it complicates things more for you at the start. You need much faster reactions to catch and controll such cars. You should first develop the skills required for it using some well balanced lower power cars, like the 2003 M3 or the BRZ. With these cars you have more time to notice what's going on and react to it. You'll be understanding things much faster instead of wasting your practice time in vain with more powerful cars where you have no time to understand what went wrong if you're not experienced enough.

I cant seem to drift on t300rs. Everytime i counter steer car just wants to either spin out or steaighten out then fling the car

Which force feedback settings are you using and did you try mine? Also it is very normal to keep failing at first, and it will normally take a while for you to get used to it. Just keep practicing daily for a long period of time until your body builds the right muscle memory for it. Keep testing with your inputs the way I described in the video.

Good vid but when I hit the gad there's a red an white blinking on the throttle gage an all the vids I see there's no blinking it's just white like this vid plz help

It seems like you have the traction control not turned off. You should turn it completely off along with all the other driving assists. You can only keep the ABS.

Finally someone explain how 2 drift n GT7. I love u man😘 by the way I noticed that u r using a handbrake so pls what is the brand and do u think it will work with Fanatic wheel base with thx
@SimActionClips Жыл бұрын
Haha thanks man! I made my own handbrake. It's simply a spring-loaded arm which pushes on the L2 trigger of the playstation controller. I was able to benefit from this because when you set either the L2 or R2 trigger of the Playstation controller as handbrake in GT7, you get a fully functional progressive handbrake and not just an ON/OFF switch. This should work with any wheel since it's functioning independently. Hope this helps, much love 🤟🏻

only thing i have to say is that if your drifting hopefully your cranking the song " DRIFTER" by IRON MAIDEN from their 1981 album "killers" ( when they had their best lead singer) drifting should be accompanied by "drifter" and not just because of the name! but because the song just fits right !

haha but what about the engine's symphony... I prefer that lol

What should the traction control be set to
@SimActionClips Жыл бұрын
I mentioned everything about assists near the end of the video. Traction control off and all other assists off. You should only use ABS.
@anthonycox3493 Жыл бұрын
What set up do you have for the wheel. Any suggestions for my pedal settings.
@SimActionClips Жыл бұрын
Which wheel and pedals are you using? Set the controller steering sensitivity to 5 and the force feedback sensitivity to 10. The max torque setting depends on which wheel you're using. I put it at 10 for the G29 and 6 for TGT2. You can watch this video for more detailed information: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXbIZo2ZndaVg8k As for the pedals I just remove the dead zones, but that depends on the condition of the pedals. Some pedal require some little dead zone to eliminate some noise input at the resting position caused by wear.

Forgot to mention you must turn traction control off because its on by default.

I mentioned that at the end of the video along with all other assists that should all be off except for abs

I don’t have the M3 yet as I’m very cheap in GT7 😂. Can I use the 350Z instead? It has similar power and similar weight.
@SimActionClips Жыл бұрын
Yes for sure, the 350z is also a great car for that.

You connect the g25 shift with g29? It is possible??😮
@SimActionClips Жыл бұрын
That's a G27 shifter, it works normally like a G29 shifter but only the buttons won't work. The G25 shifter won't work the same unless you swap 2 of the wires. I don't remember which ones but I think you can easily find the right info with a quick google search.
