I feel like it would be pretty cool if you made a video about you practicing in an lo206 kart and show what is different from the x30 from a track perspective and go in depth with the setup changes you make along the way.

That would be so helpful and I’d really appreciate it! If you search KZbin for racing tips specific to the LO206 class, you really can’t find much. At least not to the level of detail you provide. Thanks and looking forward to watching!

Thanks for the help in understanding how to drive the kart, Im going into Senior Rotax next year and i can already see I'm driving the medium HP(Senior) line into the corner, but then i sort of go into the low hp line when i get to the exit, Thanks a lot for everything you provide for us Ryan!

Do you trail brake till the gas or the apex? Also in the lower HP is that like the rentals, and do you just roll the kart through the corner after braking?

Good work :) It is fun jumping between classes with different engine packages, helps general driver development too. It was fun getting back in the L0206 package this year and throwing it around after running in more hp and heavier classes.

Great topic bc i drive karts slower than a lo206 ,. At my local rental track and I'm not the fastesti think u described the line i take and learned after long sessions the hard way when I'm not over driving

Slow entry and fast exit for the low HP karts and trail brake with the Mid HP karts seems reasonable. I was following some National level Ka100 Sr. drivers and noticed they were driving it similar to a Tag kart, with trail braking in the corners especially in the S turns. I also noticed Ka100 were faster then the old style tags on a Medium sized kart track (leopards, Pre Evo Rotax..) Tire compound might have played a role, but it's interesting non-the less. On RR car track the old tags are nearly 3-5 Seconds faster. Size of track and corners I am sure all make a difference as well.

first of all, thank you for the amazing video. in low HP kart, after the hard braking zone is it better to just leave the kart rolling or still trail brake like in X30?

Great video! I've driven an X-30, Rotax, KA100 and a long time ago a Swift and each behaves uniquely. What I noticed with IAME engines is that they don't like low or intermittent throttle. You want to either stay off or above 50-70% throttle (higher at higher RPM) through a corner. And when you hit the gas, commit! Otherwise it'll sputter and lose power on the way out.
@NorbergNation
@NorbergNation Жыл бұрын
The x30 throttle is definitely finicky because it has so little play. That's why great throttle control is always important

Good video Ryan! Would really like to see you driving on-board a KZ and providing explanation on braking, cornering etc! We'll have lot's of stuff to learn! Just to add to your gearbox explanation that, obviously, you need to keep a little bit of gas as soon as you come off the brake just so that you don't "loosen" the kart up, then essentially floor it as soon as you exit keeping the steering wheel straight. Thanks again! Love your series!!

This was a lot different than I thought it was going to be. I’m going to have to experiment with different lines now. I figured the higher HP karts would brake later and deeper to square the corner off more and drive out with a higher speed. Might explain why I struggle so bad in a shifter (besides the fact that it’s absolutely insane) but can usually hit pretty good lap times in a 206.

Google what your local race track is. Call or go there and ask if there are any local teams that you could rent a kart for a day. Try it out and start there.

Best to drive them the same outside of specific circumstances. Learning to be smooth and fast is a necessity for clutch karts, and this directly transfers to KZ. One of the biggest mistakes new older drivers make is going straight for a shifter kart without honing the race craft and smoothness required to be fast in a direct drive or clutch kart. Especially if you can afford the top engine builders, you’re missing out on a lot of experience in how to defend and set up passes.
@ttt69420
@ttt69420 Жыл бұрын
In any case, improving your solo lap times in a clutch kart, in my mind, is essential. And it carries over into low downforce or under tired cars as well. KZ is just a faster, more aggressive version, but the gearbox can be a crutch.
@ttt69420
@ttt69420 Жыл бұрын
But the modern KZ engines are quite a bit easier to drive than the old almost unlimited super pro and s1 cr125s from the early 2000s so maybe my feelings are outdated.

Would you say the min speed of the classes would be the same at the apex considering same tires? In other words make max usage of the latG they can handle..
@Kidzspeed
@Kidzspeed Жыл бұрын
If you normalize between tires, weight, and chassis, it's close enough.
@NorbergNation
@NorbergNation Жыл бұрын
It would be close considering all of the variable involved in different classes but generally that faster the engine the slower the rolling speed through the corner.
@pippen001
@pippen001 Жыл бұрын
@@NorbergNation So, looking at the data you should check whether you are making the maximum LatG that the tire is capable of handling. A sharper corner will have a lower speed, but around the same latG values comparred with a less sharp corner. Is my logic correct?
