great information on how to tackle this beast! Definitely one of the most rewarding cars to drive!

Two things 911’s love 1) trail breaking 2) coasting I don’t have a lot of seat time in a 911 (real world) but a bit.. and I’ll never forget my dad instructing me about trailing and the coast... and I’ll also never forget my first lift off throttle loop! Lol

Great vid man! Just started Iracing this week and compared to ACC, it's a whole lot different. Used to just regular GT3 cars with abs and traction :) This little guy just demands respect and like you said needs to be handled with finesse Not like a Ferrari 488 EVO that you can just chuck like an idiot ;)

Throttle as early as possible is definitely where I'm struggling. I can see you are back on throttle while your steering wheel is still 90° out of slow corners, but I'm always afraid of the power oversteer. Even soft ARB doesn't help much, I can't get back on power as soon as you do.
@apoapsisperformancesolutions4 жыл бұрын
It's a very fine line. I find the big aspects are introducing throttle (enough to initiate the weight transfer, but not enough to spin the wheels) while under input is fine. But then unwinding the wheel quickly while getting from that 15-20% throttle to full is where the oversteer will most likely happen. Best advice would be go to a tight track and purposely spin the car on power oversteer while unwinding the wheel quicker each time until it's more of a slide than any violent input. The timing is the big thing.

@@apoapsisperformancesolutions On VRS telemetry, i'm seeing the drivers punching up to 40-50% pretty quickly, then squeezing up the throttle from there. different setups i suppose, but i figured the theory behind it was to get the weight onto the rears as quickly as possible, to be able to go 100% asap.

Great video, I’ve just bought the 992 and have a lot to learn before I dare to enter a race!! One question though, do you use autoblip or do you blip manually?
@apoapsisperformancesolutions3 жыл бұрын
This car has autoblip built into it, so no need for any shift aids aside from clutch pedal help if you wish for that!

Great info!! I'm just curious how relative this information in relation to the new iRacing Porsche GT3R? Are the fundamentals of what you show here similar, considering their somewhat similar in design?

Hey there! To be 100% honest, I now only run VRS/PDS/CSS setups with minor tweaks to fit my style. In the current age of sim racing, a sub to one of those setup shops is well worth it to be competitive!

9:18 I don't agree with the Brake trace, it should jump to about 80%, stabilise there or nearly until you turn in where you start yout trail braking

Coasting is bad for this car, caused lots of understeer in mid-corner. You should be better off carrying more speed into the corner, with more trail braking to help the car turn and apply throttle earlier.
@apoapsisperformancesolutions4 жыл бұрын
Coasting would be causing understeer if the car is naturally setup to understeer, in that case trail braking would be used more extensively. Coasting and TB are used for the same result, but a car that can naturally rotate a bit more will be less reliant on TB and later in a run will have much less of a probability of lockups deep into corners because of the reliance on TB.

@@apoapsisperformancesolutions Like using higher rake to help the turning?
@jousis_4 жыл бұрын
@@apoapsisperformancesolutions IIRC car didn't behave so well with coasting S1/S2 but I tried it in Detroid on my 1st race this season and it feels very nice and safe way to rotate on an oversteery setup. This car is getting better and better every season. So much fun.
@apoapsisperformancesolutions4 жыл бұрын
@@kentsangkh Yep, rake or something like rear toe. Really help dictate how much rotation happens. Personally I dont like to force the front end into a corner and have it be a bit more natural. Changing rake or toe will effect how much you have to manipulate the car into the corner. No real "right or wrong" but that comes down to driver preference.
