New sub after watching only 2 of your videos. This is an often overlooked area of cleaning esp if you only occasionally vac your drapery. This along with washing ceilings and walls are a big job but satisfying afterwards. Thank you for making my life easier as well as the economic benefit. The more you know!❤

Thank you! I sprayed mine with Febreze fabric refresher. That stuff is vile, the whole house smelt disgusting and I could not shift that headache-inducing stink - baking soda, vinegar spray, airing , nothing helped. Mine cannot be dry cleaned or maschine washed. Thank goodness this helped. When I was done, I sprayed them with vodka.

Hi: Thank you for the awesome tips. Did you say we can use rubbing alcohol instead of dry cleaning solution? Does this methods work for black-out curtains? Would it damage the plasticised backing?
@CleaningHowTo3 жыл бұрын
Rubbing alchohol is fine yes, but honestly; the low moisture method works best unless theres a smoke/soot issue!
@MelissaBx23 жыл бұрын
Would these methods work on a curtain made with a cotton/viscose blend?

Yes, but keep the moisture low - and I mean very low; watch this first to understand viscose a bit better kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIPbdWhomNeJiZY

Hi we have a wood burning stove and the tops of the curtains are particularly dirty. Am I best using the dry cleaning method or damp cleaning on the ‘soot’ residue? The curtains are a light oatmeal colour and blackout lined. Thanks

@CleaningHowTo Жыл бұрын
Linen hates alkalinity, oxidisers, and moisture - watch my ph video and my viscose videos. Use ph neutral product, don’t overwet. Simple when you know how - read that this all again! Don’t use any oxidising products you’ll ruin them.

Great tips. My friend dog has peed on two different types of curtain. A cream coloured cotton lined. And 100% Polyester with lining. Dark grey outer with gold pattern, white lining. The light colour appears stained. The dark one smells. Both left yellow on my light carpet. Will the wet method clean pee/smells?
@CleaningHowTo2 жыл бұрын
if the pee is fresh it should work, older urine turns alkaline as it breaks down so it could have burnt the material. You could try dabbing with a SMALL amount of white vinegar and drying rapidly with a hair dryer to test if it reverses (do this after cleaning not before).
