I was watching Victorian flower garden from the BBC and I saw that they used powdered alum dissolved in hot water then poured over dried flowers to achieve a glittering effect. That must be beautiful ! I have to give it a try. 🌹

Can you believe that glycerine/glycerol is being recommended as a method to rehydrate the skin? ... a wrinkle treatment! It obviously sucks the moisture out. This is fabulous. Tfs
@nicolemcfadden683
@nicolemcfadden683 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, if you moisturize your skin really well first then apply Glycerine it will help suck the moisture and bring it up to the surface helping plump up the look overall of you skin, therefore reducing the look of fine lines and wrinkles.

I have tried this twice now and it proved disastrously ineffective. It seems so simple I cannot imagine what I did wrong: 1 parts glycerin, 2 parts water. Within 3 days my little rose and my six stems of hydrangeas were unnaturally dead. I am going to try it one more time, then it's off to the paraffin wax and silica.

I am SO excited about this! We've always heard about pressing flowers in a book or hanging them upside down, but I can't believe I've never heard of glycerin... and this gives the best result!! Do you know how long the flowers last? Would it last longer if I sprayed them with resin?

Hi, thanks so much! This is my first time drying hygrangeas. When they went in the white plant stand with the green foam, glycerin and water, was that in lieu of keeping them in the pot of water with glycerin? Or do both need to be done? How ling will the dried flowers typically last? Thank you!

After the plant absorbs the liquid, should you add more?
@AstarsPlace
@AstarsPlace 4 жыл бұрын
Hello, if the heads are still not fully cured you might need to add more liquid. Last year I did copper beech branches and had to replenish liquid 3 times before they were done. Usually one lot of liquid is sufficient. Hope this helps. On my new website www.prestigebotanicals.com I have included artifical 'dried feel' green hydrangea. These look lovely placed in with those being cured. They give a fullness to a display you don't always get with the fresh dried hydrange. Kind regards Astar

That is exactly what has happened to mine. I have dried them just in water but they do go crispy so thought I would try this. My lovely red one has now gone greeny brown almost looks moldy.

As I had said in comment it also happened to me, however they have a nice texture and I sprayed them with a lovely rose gold pink and some in gold. I used them at Xmas in an arrangement and had so many complments. I now have them in a vase, whilst not what I had hoped for it is a solution rather than throwing them away and also the texture is just great.

you’re beautiful and you’re having a good time in the video but the title says how to dry hydrangeas in glycerin but there’s not like an actual showing of how to do it in this video. I was all confused about that like how much glycerin I have a jug 🏺 of it. How much water are they laying down in its summers or they just having the glycerin soaked up in the bottom overnight??
@AstarsPlace
@AstarsPlace 10 ай бұрын
Hi Jodi, you are correct it's not clear at all, so I'm going to do an updated version. Basically, the recipe is -2 parts water to 1 part glycerine. Perhaps I should have said - to a vase that easily holds hydrangeas, with space so that they are not too tightly packed add enough water & glycerine mix to come 1/2 way up vase. When I do mine, I usually do several buckets at a time. I calculate the volume of the bucket and add 2 parts water to 1 part glycerine to come 1/2 way up bucket. Give it a good stir, slant cut ends of stems and plonk them in. Hope this helps & I'm sorry for the confusion. The bigger the bucket, the more liquid volume required. Warm regards Astar

@jodyhakala247 Jodi, we are in spring, not that you'd no because it's still cold. There is a wind again & it's causing damage to my tulips. This does not make me happy 😒! Yes, more glycerine might help. It keeps the foliage & blooms softish to the touch. Btw, if I didn't mention it, I leave the blooms/foliage in the mix for several weeks, even longer. It's a touch & feel situation with lots of guessing until they look right. Bit of mucking around, but once you get the look & feel, there will be no turning back. Cheers Astar
