So beautiful! I love your art, as usual. I've dusted interference mica in my molds. It gives the resin a very ethereal appearance. I have the same feather mold. You have to treat it gently when cleaning. I plan to make a ton of the smaller feathers & dangle them from a chain bracelet. I'm glad you are well. I'm taking precautions & have managed to stay healthy. I'm in the southeastern US. Thank you for sharing your techniques. Watching & creating helps me stay sane. Stay safe!❤

I find the really soft squishy moulds are the best for holding mica and releasing it too xxx then I will just use tape or wash them if it's really a lot ... but it hadn't happened that way yet xxxx glad you like these xx

Ohhhhh 🙈🙈 no way ... its perfectly fine ! The only thing is that you might not see much glitter come through as the mica acts as a barrier ... but its perfectly fine to dust moulds xxx that wait is the worst ! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Add mica to small drops of 91% or better isopropyl alcohol and use like paint on molds,works great for details.

Those turned out amazing! I haven't tried mica so much as I was afraid the powder wouldn't come out of the mould after but it stuck well with the resin. I'm ok by the way. We have quite a few restrictions here in Sweden against going out frivolously, sadly not everybody follow them. Most under 25 and some over 70 yrs olds seem to regard it as silly to stay home. I have to work as I drive trains for public transport.

Hiya... first look at your site and content and what a lovely set of results.... I'm going to have to go back and catch up on all the content and catch up on things before I start asking questions. I have been wood turning for 6 to 9 months but resin calls every now and then... As for keeping safe, luckily I'm retired and living in Southern Spain so this is the end of our 3rd week of lockdown. All is fine but it's go to the stage where you cant go out so the only thing you want to do is go out..... :) :) :). Take care and don't go stir crazy.

As for going out, there are no problems there, can go out for food, medicine, petrol and hospital but that is all. Only one person allowed in the car at a time. Fines being issued left right and centre for anyone stupid enough to disregard the rules. I'm glad i've got my workshop and Amazon and UK companies are still delivering. X

Hey you said something about using the feather for a clay mold. So you already have a video on how you do that or any recommendations. I'm trying to make my own molds but I've tried almost every diy how but no luck.

They turned out beautiful! I love rainbow colors. :) I have seen videos using mica powder and resin for keychain mermaid tails, and I love how those look too! Do you know if you can use mica powder with airdry clay or is that not recommended? I know people use it for polymer clay. I do have some mica powders but I have not tried them out yet! I'm undecided on what to use them on!

Heyyyy lovely, UV resin would be suitable for small intricate pieces, I am afraid I do not get on very well with UV resin so I cannot advise. For coasters and such you will just use a lot of UV ... and whilst UV can be bought in smaller cheaper bottles ... KG V' KG .... Epoxy resin is way cheaper. I do not know if you can dust with UV i'm so sorry xxx

heyyyy lovely ... no I dont geneally use UV resin we do not get on at all x I have since learned it is best to use BLACK resin to fill the backs of these .. it makes the powders pop way more ! and i dont think UV would work well with Black

Hey Amy, sorry for the delayed response .. I havnt been getting my notifications. I just brushed the moulds with the colours then poured clear resin into them. I do know some people are colouring their resin too … I have been told that black resin will make the coaster pop even more but I havnt tried that yet x

Any suggestions on how to clean off the excess mica dusts where it’s not wanted ? For example I used a stencil on a coaster mold but got mica dust around the pattern where I didn’t want it. I have tried using alcohol and whatnot to clean around the pattern but it leaves water spots/streaks and the shimmer from mica is still there for the most part. I’m not sure what to do after going though all the trouble of stenciling 6 coaster molds ☹️

Heyyy Lovely .. I use sellotape to get most of it off and then a wet wipe .. but it really does get everywhere doesnt it x I think your best bet is to use tape x

Roger haaaaa I am not laughing at the oil slick but you are funny ! haaaa I am sorry about the oil slick .. You need to brush them on lightly … and then shake off the excess into a bin before pouring resin. My latest video is also a dusting one … it may help x

Oh, pretty, pretty, pretty💓. I've got the same moulds, so no excuse for not having a go sometime. Hope your coping ok with the lockdown? From what I've seen and read other parts of the uk are being hit hard with covid19 - 5,000 people have died as of today I read. It seems slightly surreal to me. I live in a rural area and life hasn't really changed for me, it's just got a little bit more quieter.

Heyyy lovely .. thanks so much .. yeh it's all very crazy here we dont go out at all .. been out once to get food .. lockdown has been fine for me I like being home xxx ❤❤ working my 9-5 from home has sucked ! Because I'm not used to sitting at a computer for that long at all .. but I'm off now for 2 weeks (still at home but ) ha x Glad you liked these .. it's definitely something of like to do again xx Stay safe xxx ❤❤❤❤❤

Everything came out so beautiful i have 1 question does the powder stay stuff to the mold after its done curing or it come off

Hey Krystal .. thank you so much :) yes the powder absorbs in to the resin and the moulds come out clean. I will say though /// these plastic moulds are more difficult to dust than the squishy silicone moulds .. they hold the powder much better. xx

@@ClairesCraftyCorner thx Claire for some reason i had a feeling you ere going to say craft resin....i used that, the bottom of my cup tea read 45°c and craft resin supposedly goes up to 93°c but still left a mark on a coaster that had been left to cure for 3 wks and 6 days..😢

@@seanditch4419 heyyy Dean, ahhhh no way. I actually never put hot drinks on these ... but ... I did make some Christmas coasters with Craft Resin .. and funnily the heat didnt affect them at all. I do find Craft Resin is more unpredictable than others. Wouldnt it be great if all resins were standard flat out heat resistant !

this way is better than adding it to the resin. 👍 u can paint just about anything.
