Excellent video which was a great help when I was replacing the motor on my DC33. A couple of things that may be useful to others doing this. When disassembling, if you aren't intending to do any refurbishment on the clutch you can just leave it in place (i.e. skip 2:15 to 3:07). When reassembling I initially struggled trying to get the motor back into the casing. The reason was that I hadn't pulled the large rubber gasket fully over the fan canister. The rib on the gasket should be pulled back until it completely covers the flange on the cannister, so it appears as shown at 7:38. The motor should then slide into the casing fairly easily, although it will need a bit of force to push it all the way home. Well done though Parwaz 786. A really clear video that has no doubt saved many DC33's from being scrapped!

Great video, thanks. My only issue was that the motor I bought from Ebay was slightly different shape so I had to trim the seal as you suggested. It was then a very difficult to clip the end back on the motor - there was a slight gap all the way round but it wouldn't go in any further - the filter housing is a bit tight now and not completely flush but as the seals meet it seems to work fine.

Great video, very clear and concise. Nothing that doesn't need to be there and some timely tips and tricks along the way I wouldn't have considered. Big help in replacing the motor of my 2010 DC33. Some things that were different on mine: the exhaust filter doesn't have a nice flip lid like the video (couldn't even find any pictures or evidence that they ever made them like the one I had). The replacement washable filter fits and works correctly though. Secondly the motor was physically smaller though the key dimensions like the shaft length and diameter remained the same and fitted perfectly. Great job.

Great video - never done this before!! Our DC33 has been well maintained. If I’m doing the motor do you think I should do clutch as well - how do I tell if clutch needs doing?
@parwaz78614 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I would recommend the clutch should be changed because after a few years the rubber belts tend to stretch out (they need to be really right so the brush spins at optimal speed). To tell if your clutch needs replacing, if you feel like the brush slows down when it hits the carpet and it isn't brushing the carpet as well as it used to, it's most probably the clutch belts which are worn and should be replaced (as long as the internal hose is pushing the brush onto the floor properly and the bristles aren't worn out). Hope this helps!

Hi! Thanks so much for this Video but I still need help. A common problem with these Hoover's is that after a while, the mechanism that diverts suction from floor to nozzle stops working. The plastic bit above the right wheel doesn't stay in it proper place ( often you can't put the hoover in upright position without adjusting that plastic piece by hand. Or, the hoover will go in the upright position but won't have suction through the nozzle. Does this mean I need to replace the clutch or a different part? 🙏🙏🙏
@parwaz78612 жыл бұрын
Hi! Sounds like the black button/plastic piece above that valve needs sorting out, it’s spring loaded to act as a lock to keep the valve up in the vacuuming position check that it’s fitted correctly Also that the removable valve pipe has the rubber seal fitted at the bottom too

My DC33 makes a loud noise but only in carpet mode. How do I fix it? Is it just the clutch that needs replacing? Great video btw!!! 👍👍
@parwaz78613 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for your comment! It could be the type of carpet, if it's a very thick rug and it jams the brushroll that could be one thing, also remove the end caps on your brushbar, there's usually a big hairball in each end of the brushbar end caps, if this doesn't work I'd recommend a new clutch 👍🏽

Parwaz, I've just got a second hand DC33 off ebay, it's really stiff bending it from upright to angled to vacuum. Am I doing something stupid or should it just move from upright to angled position to vacuum? It STINKS of wet dog, any ideas of how to get rid of the smell? Also, should there be permanent suction from the wand on the handle as I vacuum the floor?
@parwaz78613 жыл бұрын
Sounds like the groove in the motor housing where it meets with the black upright lock needs lubrication As for the suction at the wand, it should divert to the floor when you kick the hesd to the floor, chech that there's not a plastic piece broken off the cleaner head near the clutch knob (when the head is kicked down into the vacuuming position) as this plastic piece near the valve pipe moves the diverter valve to the head when the head is kicked down As for the smell I recommend washing the filters in scented shampoo and wash the cyclone and shroud out thoroughly then leave it to dry properly
