How long will the e-coating last? Will it chip? And what happens if it needs to be recoated? Thanks!
@deplorabledixie28345 жыл бұрын
Lasts many years and does not chip..it forms a permanent imperceptible bond to the metal..just beautiful.
@deplorabledixie28345 жыл бұрын
I've never needed to re-coat anything and no complaints from customers ever.
@RioGrande19445 жыл бұрын
Great question, Christina. It does depend on the type of jewelry. Rings and bracelets will take much more abuse than earrings and pendants, so the e-coating will not last as long on them. It can chip if it sustains a hard enough blow and would then, need to be recoated. If it needs to be recoated, the old e-coating can be removed with the stripping solution. If there is exposed metal, that specific area can also be recoated. We hope this was helpful for you!
@mrbellman015 жыл бұрын
@@RioGrande1944 are there instructions on how to recoat a specific area? do you mean the chipped area can be recoated without being totally stripped? Thanks
@RioGrande19445 жыл бұрын
@@mrbellman01 Unfortunately, there are not instructions for touching up a specific area, but you would want to strip the entire object and re-ecoat it to ensure that the coverage is even and consistent.

Is there any way to distinguish/ identify weather the coating present is e-coating or powder coating on aluminium base metal?
@RioGrande19444 жыл бұрын
Hi there! There is not a way to without laboratory chemical testing; however, we can say that the aluminum is not an easy metal to ecoat. There is a high failure rate so if it is aluminum with a coating, it would be either a lacquer or powder coat. We hope you find this helpful!

Hi everyone! Is this some kind of varnish, correct? This way need to be filtered in a given interval, right? Which is the cheaper method to filter this solution?
@RioGrande194411 ай бұрын
It is not a varnish, it is an electrically deposited ceramic solution. You do not need to filter e-coating solution. In the process of using the plating system, the piece would be in its cleanest state so no dirt, oil or polishing compound should be introduced to the solution. It is best to put pieces in an ultrasonic before starting the e-coating process. Any dirt left on the pieces will prevent the e-coating solution from giving the best result.
@felipessouza292011 ай бұрын
Great to hear you, I confess that IS the First time that I'm Hearing about not filtering e-coat. Great I Will try It soon. Usually, I hear about contínuos ultra-filtration with membranes. @@RioGrande1944

Do I have to have a magnetic stirrer in the beaker with the color? I’ve been using mine with out. Is it crucial? What’s the Benefit of using it rather then not?
@deplorabledixie28345 жыл бұрын
not crucial at all..I never use the magnets. Just stir the solution after each time you coat because it kind of slightly separates while the anode is doing it's thing.

@@phool289 You can use the transparent e-coating for a more durable clear coat, but there are some alternatives. While not as durable as e-coating, lacquers like the Midas Finish Seal Lacquer or Midas Clear Lacquer are common for preventing tarnish while in the showcase. It won’t hold up very long to regular wear, but a polishing cloth can keep the tarnish to a minimum after the lacquer wears away. If your jewelry is tarnishing after gold plating, this can also be remedied by applying a nickel or palladium pre-plate before plating the gold.
