What a farce! The aluminum threads on the right cable stripped the moment I touched them ( yes, lefty loosy righty tighty). The cable came off the handle on the left side. This walker is not that old! I blame the manufacturer!!!

Hi Bob & Brad! As a former ParaTransit Bus operator, I have adjusted hundreds and hundreds of walker brakes over the span of my career and I should tell you that you have to be very careful with this advice because if you have the OTHER type of walker, that has the LARGER knurled bolt, adjusting it from the top (as you are doing in your video) will actually cause damage to the walker brake handle. That type (with the larger knurled bolt) should only be adjusted at the bottom. Adjusting the brake from the bottom is a little bit trickier as it involves creating slack by compressing the spring. I would suggest finding the other type of walker (I think Costco sells them) and re-do the video showing both types of walkers and differences with the styles of brakes, the knurled bolts, and the adjustment techniques. I have thought about doing this type of video myself, but I don't have any walkers of my own.

Thanks. A handy cap on the bus I guess failed to lock his walker. It rolled down the steps. He got kicked off the bus for the rest of the day cause he couldn't control his walker. The passenger said he isn't strong enough to contain his walker.

Remember guys. Lefty Loosey and righty tighty... people remember that better than trying to remember clockwise to counter clockwise and stuff. It's amazing.
@danadavis60972 жыл бұрын
That's exactly how I remember. Lol. Everytime I turn a screw I say that to myself. My whole life. I'm 65. I'm not sure but I think my elementary science teacher taught us that. 🤗
@gailremp83892 жыл бұрын
@@danadavis6097 truth.. I had never heard that expression until a few years ago. And I'm 72. So at least you learned it from a science teacher. I think I learned it from some guy that was working on the air conditioning system. But you know later in life you still figure it out.

Some extra info: I started with this video & then dived into adjusting my mom's Rollator brakes. The top adjustment worked exactly as they said but it wasn't enough adjustment, so I went to the bottom adjusters to get more... Nope: the bottom adjusters WORK OPPOSITE. As you loosen the lower mechanism counter-clockwise, it loosens the brakes, not tighten. Hmmm. So now I indeed did need three hands to loosen the cable clamp on the end of the inner cable, pull the brake arm against the wheel, then tighten the clamp higher on the cable (mine required an allen wrench). I solved this by loosening the cable clamp, then tie-wrapping (zip-tie-ing) the brake arm to the wheel (through the spokes), pushing the cable stop up as much as possible against the rubber-boot-spring-part with one hand and tightening the cable clamp with the allen wrench with the other hand. Then I clipped the zip-tie with a pair of diagonal pliers (a knife would do) and tried the brakes. I actually had to use the lower adjustment mechanism to loosen the brakes enough that the brake-lock (parking-brake) would work. Same, other side. Happy Mom. All done!

HI, guys. I'm confused about knurled nut and lock nut. Everything is hard to move on my Drive rollator and nothing will move very far (1/8" or less?). I think you need to redo this otherwise clear video to remove the confusion about getting the useful adjustment from the knurled nut or the lock nut. If I want the store to do it, I have to pay for a ride there to drop off the rollator and a ride back to pick it up, which will cost me more than 1/2 of the purchase price. (I understand mechanical stuff. have done bike repair and helped design cars. but my handicap makes this hard to do.)

Click on the Settings icon in the upper right of the video player window. A list of options will drop down from there on the right. Click on the Playback Speed option. Another list will pop up on the left side with a choice of several slower and faster speeds. I'm not a computer geek, but I use this feature very often. I'm using an Android operating system. Placement of icons and lists may be different on iPads and iPhones. Don't know for sure as I've never used any "i" products, but I do know that they have these features. I do have a Mac Mini desktop, but I haven't used it in a while. I was using a Motarola Android smartphone phone until it died recently. It was replaced with a cheap Tracfone flip phone and a Samsung Android tablet. Hope my instructions help you out! 😊
