Here is a tip that is new to me and I've been bleeding brakes for decades: After the job is done on the front brake. Clamp a zip-tie around the brake lever and let it sit overnight. This sends the microscopic bubbles to the reservoir. The next day, remove the zip-tie. Then open the top of the reservoir just enough to release the extra air pressure that came from the microscopic bubbles. Close the top and screw it down. Try the brake lever and you will be amazed at how much harder it is. If you can clamp the rear brake pedal, the same principle applies.

Dude! You are a freaking God. I have dual disc (non ABS). I just drained the front brake fluid and thought bleeding would be easy. Nope. I had no “pedal”. Took my bike around the neighborhood using only the rear brake - all I had hoping the air would work out from the vibrations and cornering. Nope. Saw your comment. Left it over night. All back to normal now. So for the front brakes you can just drain all the fluid (won’t leave any old crap from bottoms or top) and use your idea. Wahla!! Even on dual disc. This is great and very easy to drain and refill the front.

Hey man so I currently have it zip tied right now overnight I have a 2021 Iron 1200 and the front brake feels nice and smooth but on the other hand my 2000 Dyna feels spongy like it has air so will this fix it permanently or just temporary btw I rebuilt my front brakes and master cylinder just think I didn’t bleed them right

I wish I could like this 10 times! Absolutely resolved my spongey front brake issue aftertryingbthe old way repeatedly. Ordered a big syringe and was over and done in 5 minutes. This is exactly how you get a new sub!

Great video, nice and simple! One note, the reservoir must be empty or almost empty, I know you show it empty, but for us that have fluid in there already, we have to empty it first otherwise there will be a huge mess!

Was fighting bleeding my daughter’s 04 Sporty front brake line after a handle bar swap. We bled it for like 30 minutes the traditional way and never built any pressure on the brake lever. Used your trick and it was bled in a few minutes and the front brake has plenty of pressure. Thanks!

Another good video. I'm going to drain my old fluid first and then push in the new with the syringe. Thanks!

Nice purple fluid going in from the bottom but brown nasty fluid in the reservoir, close it up and call it good.
@johnj2289
@johnj2289 6 жыл бұрын
Use a Mityvac and you won't have issues with air getting into your brake line when you bleed from the valve on the front disc caliper(s). The vacuum creates negative pressure within the brake line and draws air out as well as helping to evacuate dirty/old brake fluid.

Excellent video, but I was wondering, on the first caliper why not push fluid up all the way until it enters the master cylinder? Then on the other side push fluid up until the M/C is full? Is there a reason not to do this? Thanks for a really great video - from the caliper up to the m/c is the easiest and best way to bleed brakes!

i have an 06 sportster roadster. i pushed the pads back, then i had to take the master cylinder off the handlebars and take the line off of it and pour fluid down in the bore. i put the line back on with it in the verticle position and put it back on the handlebars.. instant solid brakes... what a pain in the ass for changing the lines... almost 2 hours of fucking around.. dot 5 is 15 bucks for a small bottle... its solid now..

I am in the process of installing 14s, I turned on the ignition a couple times to make sure everything worked and I did not yet bleed the brakes. The line from the M/C to ABS module was changed.

Can this method with with speedbleeders?
@franksaxton3583

I would think not. Speedbleeders by design only let the flow go in one direction (out).

Ive got a single line running from the master down to 1 caliper then a line from that caliper to the 2nd caliper. I like the idea in thos video, just wondering if and how it might work in my case. Any insight?

+Andres not at all. You can always use the syringe to suck old dirty fluid out and pump more new fluid up from the caliper till it’s clean
