I've painted on wood before it's np, just prime it first when water is an issue

Man, this helps. ( Instead of blending up/down, side to side, angles, why not blend circlely? Does it matter? ) End result is A beauty.

Yes just rinse them out w/ warm water when you’re done they’ll last for years

I almost always just use water (occasionally add a bit of slow-dri amzn.to/3GhL5gc when working on larger canvases) and get it to a creamy consistency that is a bit thicker than watercolor.

This technique doesn't work with heavyweight paper? Or am I doing something wrong

It's possible but tough because the paper is so absorbent compared to a canvas surface, which makes it hard for the paint to flow. You're going to have to add loads of water and paint + work very fast.

@@GregLowmanArt ty for your reply. Yeah I thought so. I already made up my mind & will buy a canvas & keep the paper for ideas that don't require smooth blends. I hope I'll find a well enough primed canvas as I don't want to go through the process (I've seen recommended) with applying & smoothing gesso.

yeah it will be much easier on a canvas and you do not have to gesso for this technique if you don't want to deal with it - good luck

Please DONT use jus plain water. But a 60% slow dry and 40% flow improver. Instead. Water WILL DISSOLVE the paint so it will actually lift back off canvas . With succeeding layers
