The weirdest thing...I had just finished tearing images out of my 20+ year old garden magazines with the idea of somehow figuring a way to degloss them to use in my journals. When I finished I hopped onto YT to scroll through random videos as I am prone to do in the evenings, and yours was the first to pop up! Kind of gave me a shiver. LOL. Thank you for sharing.

Gail, it is perfect timing!!! Gardening magazines are wonderful so I bet you have some fantastic images to work with. Now, I probably would have gotten a shiver like you when the video popped up. LOL. I hope you have fun using your images! Thanks for sharing with me, Gail. :)

Lovely piece of art, lovely music. I wish you had showed us how to make those many pretty layers you have going on in your final piece.

I will have to look and see which layers. Where in the video is that part you are talking about. I might be able to recreate it and still share with you.

Hey, thanks for easy and informative video! I have seen several tutorials on this subject, but this one was my favorite. I am going to add some strong coffee to my white paint also as well as use my little nail file bar.

What a wonderful way to age a magazine image. I really loved how you framed it with gorgeous lace, bits of book and music page...especially the asemic writing border. Very romantic! Im going to give it a try❤

Wow! All this time and I never thought of that!! I have often liked a picture in a magazine, but did not like the gloss. Now I know what to do!!! Thank you Leann x

That's a good idea to try out. I think I will go one step further by adding a light coat of distress ink - or even tea or coffee and see how that works. Thanks for sharing.

Although I appreciate learning about removing shininess this way, I would LOVE to see a video on how you took that magazine picture and created the end product that you showed … but ahhh what a let down moment it was to see this video end where it did 😞

Hello, Rachel! Always nice to see you. I am so glad you like how it turns out. It is amazing the difference it can make. If you use a little bit darker paint, you can get a little aging type feel to the image. Thanks for coming on and sharing, Rachel! As always, I appreciate you. :)

I did really like it. I have a sandpaper block which I really like, just easier for me to grab onto because of arthritis in my thumb. The page you created from this one image is just my style: blush pink, soft edges, very feminine. 🌹
@BirdNestBooks3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I love those colors and look too. :) That works out well being able to use a block. So arthritis only in your thumb? So far not in your fingers? I tore the meniscus in my right knee and have some arthritis now. It is amazing how much it impacts what you do. I am learning all about it! LOL
@paperpuddles3 жыл бұрын
@@BirdNestBooks 🦋 arthritis in both thumbs because of a job I used to do as a paper puller at a church supply company. I have arthritis in both knees and a torn meniscus in my left knee. There's something in there that moves around when I walk and sometimes catches on something. I'm just kind of putting all the physical things off for right now.

@@paperpuddles Wow! Isn't that amazing. So you have your knees and thumbs barking at you! Bless you, sweet friend.

I can't see where you were going to tell us the product to buy at the dollar store to remove the gloss or tone it down. My daughter just gave it a try at making foe rice paper with DIY glue instead of mod podge and hated how sticky it was after drying. Going to try your sandpaper and loved your finished picture, thank you so much

Wonderful thank you. I've subbed. I'm wondering how it would go with a light covering of chalk paint. I don't have any but your approach could work with that as well. Thanks again. Yvonne

Hello! Sorry it has taken me so long to respond. Life. Ya know, I think I do! the other one really only works on magazines, and this one works on magazines and books. It also give you a little more control. You can use darker or lighter paints, for example, and get different feels to your image. Have you tired both? Do you have a preference?
