This is the BEST instruction on entering and exiting a kayak, and I've watched a LOT of them! Thank you very much.

It's been over 10 years since I kayak, I'm trying to get back into it and needed a crash course on how to get in and out. By far the best video. 👌

NB: Sit on the paddle shaft as close to the boat as possible. If you sit on the shaft too far away from the boat, you can easily break it.

It would be nice to have a video geared for seniors. We are not quite as agile as the youngsters in the video

Thank you for your candid comment, and for checking out the video. My 71 year old mother would agree with that sentiment. We will look at doing some more age-specific content in the future. Thanks again

Am looking for an exit strategy from a kayak that *doesn't* have a huge open cockpit like the Pungo...
@AQOutdoors
@AQOutdoors Жыл бұрын
The strategy is largely the same..I find with the smaller cockpit boats that you bring your knees together prior to exiting the boat. After that you lift one leg out, get a footing and then either push up or sling your other leg out on the same side and stand up.

Why put the paddle behind you- why not in front?
@AQOutdoors
@AQOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Thanks for checking out the video and the question. Behind creates a better platform to lean on as you sit down. Some people with shoulder problems find in front easier. For the most part however you get more balance with the paddle behind.

@@AQOutdoors thank you. Not that I’m an expert in kayaking or canoeing but from when I was a wee one in the nwt to the days when I helped out assisting in introducing girl guides to a canoe for the first time, we’ve always gone forwards with the paddle. I’ve never seen it done from the back until I saw your video. I’ll have to try it some time 😜

doesn't work for those of us with weak knees!!!!!!!!!!!!1

That is a good point. My Mum is in that situation (weak knees). She has another paddler steady the boat for her and assist in getting her in. Getting out is often a little less graceful for her.
