You are a fabulous quilter and I love your version of the double Irish chain. The pillow in green is exquisite too. I can't wait to see next week when you sew the flannel cuddle quilt. You are doing fine with your videos. Never ever let anyone criticise you to the point that they are taking the fun out of making videos. It is your channel so do what makes you happy. It does take a lot of time and effort and costs the viewers nothing. I think that anyone who puts out tutorials should be supported in the kindest and most positive way possible. I appreciate what you are doing and I benefit greatly from your willingness to teach and share your experience and knowledge. Keep up the great work. Cathy 🇨🇦

You are doing just fine and the baskets looked great …I liked them but I need a lot bigger so I think I will double the measurements and make it double size….Thank you, chin up and have some fun, we are not perfect and if you make a boo-boo give it a chuckle because we make those also…lol…have fun…..I have been sewing since dad bought me my first sewing machine(kenmore) w the shuttle bobbin which I still have, he bought it for 3.00 at a garage sale and on a Sunday he payed newspaper out on the beautiful dinning room table and he procedide to take the machine apart take a metal brush and dust and clean and oil every part of this machine, he had brought home a belt for it on his way home from work on Friday ….well he put it together and that machine was awesome and did it hummmm. And after that I got moms old Kenmore when she got her singer in”76” then before I got married I splurged and got an Piaf then a Janome 9000 and now a 10000. But we have all done the boo-boo thing so just relax…. So how big did sister get

@@sisterchicksquilting I routinely "reengineer" blocks or methods to ensure that I'm using the fastest and most accurate way to make that also saves time and fabric. (I don't make many patterns, but most patterns that I see often use antiquated ways). I bristle at wasteful ways, sub-optimum techniques. And I stand on my soapbox whenever I see someone use 4 at a time HST's that puts bias on the outside of the block. Other than that, I try to be agreeable.

This is beautiful, ur color choices make for a stunning quilt. I really enjoyed watching you make the single Irish chain and now the double Irish chain. You have a good eye for color the way you mix your dark, medium and light fabrics, this quilt is proof of this. Some little girl will be very lucky. Sorry your brother is having to knee surgery but he’s very lucky to have a wonderful sister to make him a “man quilt”. Men don’t recuperate as well laying under flowers and pastels, I know because my husband is recovering from surgery and wants his man quilt over him 🤣. You are wonderful! I’m pretty new at quilting. I started when I retired, about 2 years ago. I wasn’t impressed with the red block, then you showed it on the wall! Stunning!!! I haven’t gotten the “Spidy sense “ on quilting quite yet, but hope it comes through. As far as backing goes, I’ve used flannel on most of my quilts because they’ve been for kids. I’ve also gone the next step up and used fleece. It’s a bit thicker so harder to sew my domestic machine but can be tied as well as quilted. The minky is out of my league price wise and it’s pretty slippery. For warmth I’d say flannel or fleece, for softness, Minky all the way!
@sisterchicksquilting
@sisterchicksquilting 2 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you stuck with it. You will find that with a lot of blocks, one isn't impressive but then you multiply and lay them out and Wowza! Your Spidey Sense will develop by hanging out with other quilters and sharing projects with them. Is there a quilting guild in your area? I use a lot of Shannon, Cuddle (Minky) for backings becuase it's so cuddly and warm. I'm afraid to quilt with fleece becuase it's so stretchy, you're brave. Thank you for watching my videos :)!

Hi! Thanks so much for the tutorial. I went to your website & couldn't find the scrappy double Irish chain or the Irish chain patterns for download. Did I miss them?

No, I don’t have these patterns up. I used a 2 1/2” square for the nine patch to put them together. I didn’t use a pattern. Watch the video again, I think I give the measurements for the two blocks that make up the Double Irish Chain. I hope this helps, thanks for watching my channel, Di 😍‼️

Hi Di! Love the double Irish Chain quilt! I have always wondered how to do a double. Thank you for the tutorial. I think that white fabric was beautiful. Do you know what it is and if it is still available? I have never used cuddle for a back, but I think it would be fine especially in a colder climate.

Hello Wendy, You’re welcome. As far as that white fabric I’ve had it in my stash for over 12 years. That’s all I know about it, sorry. Thank you for watching my video! I appreciate it.

I like how you simplified the predominantly white block. I can’t find the measurements you used for that second block on your site. Can you help me?

Went to your website to get the cutting measurements for the Double Irish Chain and could not find it. Where do I need to go? Thank you

I don’t give the pattern, you just have to watch the video a couple of times. I’m sorry, because I think I say in the video, I’ll post them😬😬. I used 2 1/2” blocks however so it should be easy to put together looking at a screen shot. Then I think I give the measurements for the other block in the video. This was one of my earlier videos and I didn’t catch my mistake. Thank you so much for watching my channel😊❤️🐥

@@sisterchicksquilting Thank you for your response. You did mention the 2.5" blocks/strips that you used, however, you did not give the measurements for the 2nd block. I'm needing the cutting measurements for the center white piece and the side pieces.

It’s the bed of the sewing machine which is suspended in the air. You can sew a tuba fabric like a sleeve. It will slide over the free arm, and you can stitch in a circle. I hope that helps.

Use your free arm any way you want to. Rude to tell someone they are doing something wrong. Maybe it works better for them.
