How to easily remove and replace a Seat Ibiza battery yourself

Hello and welcome to another video from Driveway Dudes.
In this short tutorial and with just a couple of tools, William shows you how to easily remove and replace a Seat Ibiza battery so there's no need to go to a garage, dealership or workshop and pay someone x amount of money for what can be done by you.
The tools he uses is flat head screwdriver, a 10mm and a 13mm socket and a ratchet with one or more extension bars.
Most cars regardless of the make and model have batteries that are held and secured in place in a similar fashion though they may have different size locking nuts/bolts.
In this 1.2 model Seat Ibiza (6J 2010) the battery is a 12V 44Ah 360CCA. Other years/models may have batteries that differ but the procedure is likely be the same or similar.
Parts under the bonnet/hood including the surface of the battery may be coated with road dirt and miscellaneous so please think safety and consider wearing gloves when handling as some people may have sensitive skin.

Great video, it was really helpful. However When taking the plastic battery cover off both clips broke off instead of looking flexible like yours. I'm guessing that's because of the cold weather over here hardening the plastic. but otherwise the car is running beautifully.

Hi 00shokid. Sorry to hear they broke, and we have had our fair share of plastic clips breaking. So many hot and cold temperature cycles including the age of plastics can end up making them brittle :( Glad your car is running well and you found the video useful.

Thanks for the great video. Battery now changed & to answer some of the questions below, my radio still worked. The only thing I had to alter, was the clock which had reset to 0:00, (Note - This was on a 2014 Seat Ibiza 1.4 ).

Are the battery terminals clean? Have you checked all the fuses and relays? If there is no crank, you may also need to check the starting motor and earth strap.

That nut at the bottom that holds the battery is a nightmare, sprayed with dw40 and everything won’t loosen at all.
