Vinegar is a very powerful substance. Very useful for cleaning things. I use it to clean all my aquariums and fish/reptile supplies. Doesn't surprise me it works for this too. Just don't let it get in a cut lol.

Great info. I have a question a little off the subject. I had two does kindle about a week ago when we had the sudden temperature drop here in NJ one was a proven doe one was a second time mom. Both lost all of their kits. Do you think it was the massive temperature drop or do you think maybe it was just too cold. It went down into the single digits from like 50 degrees in a day. I don't know if it's because I was only using a plastic tote as a nest box.

There\s a lot of variables there. As a rule, i put 6-7 inches of pine shavings in my nest boxes during the winter, which the doe then adds hay and fur on top of. Kits can survive extreme cold if they can burrow down deep into the nest and there is plenty of fur on top. I have noticed that good does will pull more fur during the cold to keep the kits warm, and less when its warm so they don't overheat. If i had to guess perhaps they didn't pull enough fur seeing as they can't predict a 50 degree drop in temperature. Or the nest wasn't deep enough for that kind of cold. Or both.

Hmmm looking forward to seeing those racks in your cage you might sell. Probably already seen it but didn't pay close enough attention. Wonder if there is a natural something that would help decalcifying

Vinegar is the perfect natural decalcifier.

Are other vinegars as good as white vinegar?
@westmeadowrabbits Жыл бұрын
Yes, white vinegar is the cheapest for me. I only use it for cleaning.

5% cooking vinegar as opposed to 6% cleaning vinegar. We use the diluted solution (1 cleaning vinegar: 6 water) to flush our tankless water heater.

Can concentrated Vinegar used in power washers be ok to use if diluted to 6%?
@westmeadowrabbits Жыл бұрын
Not sure to be honest. I generally don't like to use it directly on the cages if I don't really have to. To sterilize cages I find flame weeders easier. Spot cleaning with vinegar and a wire brush is fine, but you might not even need the vinegar.

@westmeadowrabbits My apologies I didn't mean using a power washer for the Cages but to soak the mats for calcium removal with power wash grade vinegar that is diluted!
@westmeadowrabbits Жыл бұрын
@@TheBudgetguy_K.T Ohhh I see. Yes I dilute it. The more calcium, the stronger the solutions.

That's why I like vinegar! Easy, nontoxic and does the job quick. Thanks for the suggestion though.

And most importantly make sure to wash them in your kitchen sink and throw your rabbit pee glove in the counter
