Personally for phase 2 I go above her head then super before her second petrify to kill the eels

Ah, yes. One of the only bosses in the game where, unless you cheese it, you can die and it won't be a skill issue. Cuphead is a lot of things, but most of the time, it's not cheap. Cala Maria is the only boss where I felt "Wow, this is really unfair"

@@naganut9718 its the most annoying boss in cuphead because its health and the final phase is one of the longest and most annyoing taking over 50 of the full battle

@@Alastor19876 I went ahead to beat the most. While I did get a strategy guide, the boss was still shockingly not too hard. Seriously the third phase was way easier than I thought, got it in like a few tries Only the first phase gives me trouble, and even then, I realized I could just target the bomb first than go back to attack the chest

Something else to mention for phase 3 is that it is actually one of the only scenenarios where smoke bomb on a plane is quite useful since if you fly towards the petrification ray and smoke bomb into the upper or downer part, you can completely dodge it without getting petrify!

Just S ranked her and holy hell, she is an absolute psychopath. Brineybeard dodged a bullet when she rejected him.

Personally I think Cala Maria’s gimmicks are pretty weird and hard to predict when you start Cuphead, but after you gain some experience her gimmicks won’t be as weird and they will be a lot more predictable.

i know that i'm over a year late to this video but a tip for the 2nd phase is if you have a super ready and you are using divine relic or whetstone, you can actually go behind cala maria's head during the phase transition between one and two (you will not get hit) and then spam whetstone from behind cala maria's head to beat phase 2 with no luck at all. once phase two ends, if you use your super you can get i frames to go back in front of cala maria's head and then do whatever strategy you like for phase 3. you also get all of the damage from using your super. the only downside to this that i can think of is that unless you get all 3 parries during the first phase, it might be a bit harder to get parry requirements, as you are unable to get parries from eels. also if you don't have the dlc whetstone is honestly a decent charm for this boss fight, you can use it to kill pufferfish in the first phase, which could make some bad combinations like pufferfish and ghost pirate easier, and completely cheese the 2nd phase

Hey, i just S-ranked cala maria on keyboard without the DLC. One strategy i found for the third phase is that when she tries to petrify you, go to the top or bottom of that thing and turn small (Dash) with smoke dash. Due to this, you completely avoid being turned into stone and are good to go.

Tip for second phase: to kill the eels fast you can do 2 ex’s of the bullets and it will just go through them

You can take out the turtle and sea horse but they’re so low to the bottom of the screen, it isn’t worth it

i was wondering why u said cursed artefact was better than coffe then i proceed using it. after some time i beat marie on just cursed artefact 3rd level not maxed not realizing that it has to be maxed to be usefull

This is 7 months later lol but, if you get close enough to cala Maria in her third phase, she can't hit you with the skulls or the petrification thing and you only have to look out for the spiky things, its risky but its how i s-ranked her 🎉🎉

I honestly don't know if this is true, but that sounds really difficult to pull off. I'm definitely gonna try it at some point, but you gotta be psycho to have even attempted this 🤣😁👍
