Kaara Mary it’s not “backwards”, it’s “inside out”. HUGE difference. Not offending you or anything just want people who follow you to know to be NOT actually put your pants on backwardness. Lmao that’d be so funny like the singing duo ‘Kris Kros’ back in the day lmao I do have to thank you for sharing this because I’ve got so many pants I can do this to and even a few skirts as well! Thank you! 😊

Yep ! I have several pairs that could use this treatment . For years I weighed in the 290's , now i'm down to a reasonable 225 and not bad at all for my 6 foot extra heavy duty structural frame . Those years my winter pants were 44's . Now I can easily ware 40's . Thank You and nice work . For mine , I may run two stitches up the back for extra re-enforcement . Or is there any of the other stitch patterns that would be stronger than the standard straight stitch . Several of the vintage machines in my collection will do numerous stitch patterns . I just don't sew enough to know the one that will work the best and be the strongest . I do know to use a Jean Thread and use a size 16 needle .
@kaarasstyle6 жыл бұрын
Hey Richard 😊 I am glad you've liked the tutorial. I can relate my brother is also 6 foot and is losing weight. WoW you have vintage machines, they are beautiful! I have the opportunity of use one whenever I visit my Aunt. The strongest stitch is the backstitch, I recommend that in the area you are sewing to insert your needle, sew 4 straight stitches, press then the backstitch for those 4 stitches, then switch back to the straight stitch and continue sewing straight down. Then when you reach the end, backstitch 4 stitches and that should be strong enough. Other stitch patterns would become visible, another option is to set your stitch length to a smaller length than the standard 2.5mm. Test it out on a scrap of fabric first, this way you can practice. The very best of luck mending your pants 😃
@rcsnow226 жыл бұрын
Thank you once again . Yes , my collection is more than 40 fine older machines . Most between the 50's and 80's I guess . But a few Treadles do go back to the mid to late 1800's . My oldest Electric operated machine is a 1925 Singer and it still works fine , the next is a 1929 White , still operating fine . I have 3 or 4 Pfaff 360's & a 332 , White , Jenome / New Home , Emdeko , ElectroGrand , Singer , Kenmore and several others . And I can use them quite well . Mostly just for my personal clothing repairs and hemming jean pants legs . Doing this procedure would be stronger and look even better if I could use a stitch that looks closer to the original from there factory , if that's possible . Take Care !
@kaarasstyle6 жыл бұрын
WOAH impressive collection😃 I've found this article that shows the factory process of making jeans. It mentions that they use a chainstitch, this may be the stitch you are looking for. They also mention in the article that they use a single-stitch machine. I truly hope this helps 😊 Link: www.heddels.com/2013/06/how-its-made-behind-the-scenes-at-the-flat-heads-denim-factories-2/

Good technique and works well with a bit more practise. Blend the seam more gradually for the part you are removing and replace the double top stitch down the centre seam on the butt. Remove the excess waistband at the front button hole area. Do the same fold in technique and make a new button hole and you're done. Still, it looks good for a beginner and I can tell you are happy with it!

MOST OF THE TIME, I JUST SEW SEARINGS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE WAIST AT THE BACK, AND IF STILL NECESSARY, I ALSO SEW AT THE FRONT TOO. APPLIES PRACTICALLY ON LIGHT THIN MATERIALS. THANK YOU.

Did you see how it turned out? I don't think it looks good! Two different kinds of seams and a pucker.
@daniellecharland-gruhzit77886 жыл бұрын
Ruth 875 yes. Needs to be topstitched on new seam and blended to the original seam more gradually. With practice, this is a great technique.
@margiemolnick93326 жыл бұрын
She did a short cut and it doesn't look or fit well in the back at the center seam. You have to remove most of the top-stitching in the back seam before stitching the seam and blend it with the original stitching. Then you can top-stitch the seams to get a smooth look.
@sewmuch2do5 жыл бұрын
@@daniellecharland-gruhzit7788 you cannot blend into a flat felled seam. it has to be unstitched down several inches... slid over and then refolded. she has an ugly pleat in there. an inverted pouf... . she tried to just ignore it and didnt show how bad it looked when she was finished.

Hey Kimberly! I am so glad to hear you've found inspiration from the tutorial! I soo know what you went through, I've had similar experience going up and down with my weight. Now you won't need to get rid of your jeans 😊. If you are in a budget for a sewing machine ask family or friends that might have one they don't use often. From my experience I had the fortune of receiving my sewing machine from my guidance counselor in school. Its worth asking around 😃

How can we turn 38 size jeans to 30 size?
@65sheilakay6 жыл бұрын
This is how NOT to do a waist job. You take seam out the middle back approximately 5" down the back, pull your fabric over to the desired measurement, iron down,sew back the exact same way in was sewn, cut off excess. Waistband, measure same amount,flip inside out,pin and sew. Flip it back around straight,then sew waistband back to pants. Reattach belt loop. Guess I need to do a video, but nice job on the large view amount.
