This is one of the best knots you can tie. It is definitely the quickest knot. I use the uni knot and I spit on the line to lube it. That will reduce the friction which will increase the knot strength.

Good for tying braid to clips/swivels etc. If you want to learn one knot for most fishing, learn the uni knot. It's pretty easy 👍

I have been fishing for 65 years and I learned this knot only about 50 years ago when I started going fishing out on the charter boats here in SoCal doing standup fishing and it’s been my favorite ever since. It’s very fast to tie and very strong and I have not had one come loose or apart yet!

When i use a palomar knot (rarely), i like to take the loop and put it above the square knot before i cinch down.

I tie all my hooks and lures with this knot I have always called it the rapala knot.

There is a knot contrary to belief called a "Rapala Knot." It's a lot more complicated than this simple, strong knot, though. But it does serve a functional purpose when tying on to actual Rapala lures of certain types, like crankbaits, where they need the full wabble action, that knot plays a big role in allowing for the lure to accurately move & function correctly.

palomar only works when tying to something small. Tying to something large, or tying one line to another line, using a uni knot and double uni knot respectively are the best knots I know

Always lube your mono line or really any other line before sinching the knot tight. Spit will work just fine

It is called Palmar knot. You can tie it only on one side of the barrel swivel. It is a good knot for hooks.

my favorite knot of all time until i started fly fishing and the tag end is a little to long to use it effectively so i switched to 16/20 knot which is just as strong

@@user-gk4jd1jv4k because fly fishing is a lot about depth and certain leader lengths so changing flies would eat through your leader really quick and be ineffective also i use 6 inch dropper tags so its just not an effective knot to use for fly fishing

thats a palomar. great knot. but get yourself about 5 or 6 different knots to use in defferent situations. dont be a one knot pony
