A tutorial on how to parallel park easily and safely. Please note that, depending on the laws of your country/state/province/etc. you may or may not have the right to take off your seat belt while backing up. Always respect the laws and rules that apply to where you are driving.
Lining up the other's car plate in the middle of your window works very well for most "normal sized" cars (Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, etc.) The only thing that changes for larger (longer) or smaller cars, is where in your car's window you see the other car's plate. For a normal sized car, you see the plate in the middle of your window. For a longer car, you have to see the plate more to the right of your window (you back up a bit less), for a smaller car, more to the left (you back up a bit more).
PLEASE NOTE: This video was done in Quebec, so it works for Quebec exams (that's if you're watching it to prepare for you exam of course). Some things may differ in your country/province/state as far as exam requirements go. Here, you can remove your seat belt before backing up. In some other places you can't. So do it only if it's allowed where you're driving. The size of vehicles vary a lot, so you might have to make some adjustments depending on the size of your vehicle and the vehicle you're parking next to. Always do your verifications to make sure you're not getting too close to the other vehicles, people that might be passing by or any other obstacles before each maneuver.

This video is definitely the best video on parallel parking. I just passed my road test after failing two times. Here are the Lessons I learned: • Drive yourself to your road test! If that’s not possible, warm up an 30-45 minutes before you test. Being in that “car” mindset is very important to help calm nervous. • Take your test at the same location if you do fail. The test might be the same but it will feel familiar • Practice your driving on the roads near your road test! • If you cant get a driving instructor, watch youtube videos on road test in your state/province or city. • If you can get a mock road test, i recommend doing it ( you can ask the instructor if they think you are ready, and if they say you are that’s definitely a confidence booster) • If you are worried about a skilled maneuver like Parallel parking or bay parking, do it every single day until you never make a mistake. Or do it till you know how to correct your mistakes. • Don’t think about the things you do wrong on a road test! It will just lead you to do the wrong things! Instead of saying “ Don’t forget to stop at a red light” say “ I’m remembering to stop at a red light”. • Lastly, remind yourself you are a good driver cause you probably are, mistakes happen. Failing a road test just means you need a little bit more practice and the more you Practice the better driver you will be. Whenever I get scared in the car I tell myself “ I’m a good driver, what i’m doing is not wrong”. Might sound dumb but if your a Anxious driver, it helps!

I understand why this whole procedure may seem difficult, but it's pretty simple and all you need is patience. I was taught by a certified driving instructor all the correct steps and measurements and have watched him do it exact 5 times. I have also done it about 6 times immediately after watching him do it, and each time I did it correctly. What he taught me was: drive up side-by-side to the car you're parking behind by using your rear quarter panel window to measure the distance between your bumper and the car ahead's bumper; make sure that you are 2 feet, or one car door's length away; turn your wheel all the way to the right while still, then proceed to reverse; stop completely when the ahead car's rear left bumper corner is at the halfpoint of your passenger window, which is equivalent to a 45° angle; while stopped, turn your wheel all the way to the left, then reverse until you are adequately positioned in the space to slightly adjust yourself. It's as easy as that.

Mr. Lopes has the best series of Driver's Ed tips on KZbin. I've spent hours watching every video out there on parallel parking, taking the test...you name it. Either the video/presenter is not clear or not detailed enough so you can do it yourself, and in the end you are left puzzled and wasted your time watching! But the Conduite Facile videos are excellent. You go through each clear step which you CAN do in your car. Remember that the road test is based on a point grading system. Much like a multiple question test were you need 75% to pass. If you make one small mistake it won't mean that you fail. For example, let's say a 3-point turn has a hypothetical weighted score of 10 points and you forget to use a turn signal but do everything else correctly for that same exercise. The missed turn signal will cost you -2 points resulting in your score to be 8 out of 10. Take advantage of all the "easy" points like using turn signals, checking mirrors, not braking to hard, etc.

I hope you'll consider a video on how to parallel park with cones. This tutorial with cars is clear but the markers on turning the wheel right and left won't be the same with cones. I'm a lot better as a "sidewalk driver," meaning that when I see a bad parallel-parker, I give good advice mentally to the driver, but I'm bad at parallel parking myself when doing it.

It's easy because it's too open. It depends when you take your road test and the guy or girl asks you to park in a tight spot or not.

cathlic Vier Very rarely will they ask you to park in tight spots. Most times they'll make you park in their own parking lot where they put some cars for that purpose. When they do ask you to park in the street, sometimes there's not even a car behind. They just want to see if you do your safety points. That, of course, may vary according to where you do your exam.

The most important things when parking at the exam are the safety points: 1-Flash when approaching, 2-Check mirror and blind spot before backing up, 3- Look back when backing up and not in your mirrors (here in Quebec at least) and 4- Don't ever get too close to something or someone. That's where your points for the parking are.

the only proper tutorial on youtube to be honest. Most of others skip important parts such turning your steering wheel 1full turn and that you need to indicate position of your car by checking plate number, Btw you can also look at your side mirror, it has to to be lined up with stop lights of the car you'r parking behind. that works too. Anyways, so far the most helpful video. Thanks for posting !
