I watched this video for a minute then asked my wife if she wanted to go out and eat Pho. It was 8:30 PM in Las Vegas. She said yes so we went to a Pho restaurant we'd never been to before and had outstanding Pho. Thanks for the inspiration.

I'm really happy that we in America have people like you to make us so great. Pho like this was a mainstay through college for me and made realize how important other cultures make USA stronger. Thank you for giving a little bit of your time time to educate us about one of the best kept secrets in Vietnamese Cuisine. More importantly, best wishes and good dining to you all!

A chef in Hanoi told me about putting lime juice (that you squeeze) and vinegar in pho, too (or at least, in beef pho). Maybe it's a northern thing, but it's good. Also, in Vietnam it's usually eaten for breakfast when the noodles are freshest. And there's nothing better than pho for breakfast!

It's more likely to be Vietnamese Southern Pho. A traditional Pho in the North side is little bit different. Even though, they are still pretty good in different style. Hope everyone visit Vietnam to enjoy!

i tend to put some noodles and broth into the spoon cos it's hot and i find it quicker way to finish while it's still hot. it's also more elegant not having to wipe ur face after every tasting, and no slurping sounds

I always put 2 parts hoison, 1 part siracha, a few bean sprouts, and little lime juice in the broth. I like it that way, and I'm not going to stop. The beauty of Southern pho is that you can customize your bowl to your own preferences. I'm Vietnamese and this way is similar to how my Dad eats it, but just eat it in way that lets you enjoy it the most. Oh and you can ask for a fork. Most pho restuarants will have forks even if they're not initially placed at your table. If you've never tried pho, and you go by yourself, you can certainly follow this video as a guide, but feel free to make your own variations. Oh and you can also order a small bowl, and just use that to experiment. If you like what you made, apply it to the rest of your bowl.

@khoinguyen0331

That is true; unlike how it is heavily looked down upon in the US, MSG is actually a popular flavor ingredient in a lot of Vietnamese dishes and can be seen everywhere. Yes, there are massive health risks with MSG and as more people become aware of it, more will try to avoid it. For now, though, MSG is pretty fundamental in Vietnamese dishes (especially in Vietnam due to its inexpensiveness.)
