@@silvermine9087 perhaps you are selecting jewelry not background ... please try to to inverse ( select - inverse or Shift +Ctrl+I) so that background will be selected and then press Shift + F5 or fill it will white. It seems like your jewelry background is dark grey which is why it is disturbing the quality of silver. Try to use Ctrl + Levels and adjust Levels pointer from right side to left .. make it bright and then select jewelry. Last option we have is to use clipping path. You will find clipping path tutorials on my channel. I will make a new video dealing with such problems. Thanks for watching my video and support.

Great advice! My pictures have improved so much just from watching this video. I actually managed to get a true white background! Thank you! Are the original photos taken with the jewellery laid on a flat panel lightbox? I done mine on a white piece of card with no backing light and even though I managed to get the background to be pure white it was a bit more difficult than I would have liked and there were some shadows on the final image as well.

When I use the lasso tool, the section I circle doesn't automatically disappear as soon as I close the loop.

hi, if you have selected a jewelry background with magic wand tool and you want to remove unwanted things using lasso tool then go to top left corner, select Add to Selection after selecting lasso tool only then you will be able to remove those unwanted selection. In other cases if your selection is not disappearing then just press CTRL or Command + D for deselection.

Super strong clip, too bad it doesn't work everywhere. I have pearl bracelets, where you have white reflection from the flash whitens everything and joins the background, unfortunately for those jewelry u works. But most of the time it works. I wish you luck!!!!

To make the white background I preffer going to Camera RAW and using a Brush tool with high exposure value (hi highlight hi shadows and so on) + auto-masking option ON. Anyway thanks for sharing your method.
