Hello there! I was watching videos today in youtube for almost a couple of hours on jewelry photography and most of them were talking about so many tech. things and lights, which was good. But yours is the only video that gave ideas on creative styling and easy usage of placements and I can see that you are good at it. Keep doing videos on styling... Cheers!

Hi! I'm super happy you've enjoyed my video ❤️ I totally agree, since I'm not a professional photographer, I won't be able to say anything about technical aspects, but I'm happy to share some creative ideas and styling set ups 😀 I have another video coming in the near future, so check back soon!

This makes it look so easy, yet I can’t seem to get consistently good photos. I’m only pic’ing inexpensive wood and polymer clay jewelry, so it’s not just a few pieces of expensive pieces, it’s a LOT of things same colors but different shapes. So I’m usually irritable and fed up before I even get started. It shouldn’t be so hard. I’ve used iPhone AND a borrowed Canon - the iPhone looks best with portrait mode, but the Canon NEVER focuses on my earrings, ALWAYS on the background. I cannot figure out how to change it. So frustrating. I have always hated cameras and having my own picture taken, and now having to do all this product photography on my own is really upsetting me. I’ve bought lights, light boxes. No matter what I do they come out dull or blurry UNLESS I stand outside in the sweltering heat in bright midday sun, and find that ONE setup that works and just slog through them all. I hate it. So frustrating. Your tutorial makes it look easy, but honestly I don’t want to have to do it at all. Hahaha

Have you use single focus point? And If you try to manually focus it, and the result is not on the point where you want it to be focus, then I believe theres something wrong with the focusing system.

Thank you so Much Karolien! 😊 I've experimented with photo tent but I just couldn't figure it out! I've got lamps too but it all seems like so much hassle and the effect was never what I wanted. I much prefer to just place my items by the window and shoot there :P For me, learning manual mode of my camera was a game changer too, and realising that I can brighten photos in post production. I used to seriously overexpose them because I wanted them to be bright and vivid haha :P

Not at the moment, but it's a video I was thinking of making, and knowing that there are people interested in this I might just go ahead and film it 🥰 Thank you for the suggestion! My gear has changed slightly since this video, was made, I invested in a Sony camera, but I still have my Canon and use it. Will be happy to share my gear and how I film! I think it might be useful for short format videos too
