Thanks so much for doing this video, it's so valuable to hear someone else's thought process of how you edit and not try to compress into 10 minutes with a top 5 things you should do, they have their place but these are equally important. Great Job 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Jared, I do this same process. Like you after the first pass, I leave it for a few days or even weeks and revisit the entire shoot and I always find more keepers in that second pass, than I did during the first pass.

Love this video. I don't delete either unless out of focus or if the exposure is bad. And I love the one where she's on top of the hill looking at the vehicle like there was quite a few meals in it for her and her cubs. lol

I shoot sports and I take 1000-2000 pics per game. I just can't store them all. I will typically delete from the same scene after I've selected one or two. For example, if someone is pitching, I know the 6 positions I want to get and will keep a couple more if I'm on the fence. I remove about 50-75% of the shoot that way. For pics of my own kids I will usually keep all of them unless the flash didn't go off or they are horribly out of focus. I'm also perfectly fine using Topaz Labs Sharpen app and cropping like a madman.

Jared, this came right on time. I’m going to Tanzania next month for my first safari. I don’t have anything longer than 200mm, so I already know that I’ll be going for vastness and storytelling. Just like with your beautiful images, I want to showcase the safari experience. I’m going to make it work, lol. Thanks again.

Yea. Being outside and taking photo is so much fun. Then come the part I hate most is back home and unloading all the raw photo into lightroom and select what we want and then edit them. Man so much time needed. I dont like to sit infront the screen more than being outside. But jpeg isnt good enough and this is alll part of the whole experience.

I shot a bridal shower 6 weeks ago started with 2106 photos. Shot on burst mode, after getting rid of the many shots of blinking, AF misbehaving, & occasional motion blur or people walking infront of me. I wound up trashing half with 1,057 pics it was so tedious

@@froknowsphoto I found quite a few shots too centered for my liking. That's it. I do understand the limitations of shooting on a safari. I also know you don't crop. Lastly, aesthetics are subjective. If you like what you shot, you simply like it. That's it my friend.

Not a good video, a great video! It's amazing to see the process, how you are looking throughout the frame to find things that work and don't. As for the one you debated, I think the head turned, looking away is a little better, just because it makes you wonder what she sees off in the distance. At what point during the trip did you start using the camera on the monopod upside down with the Canon app to trigger?

I see the value of your video for the process but your edits are way too saturated for wildlife. And you’re missing the point about the 600 versus the 400. If you back the vehicle up you can get the cat more “eye level”. Most of your shots you are shooting down on her. You should’ve asked me for safari mentorship.
