Great video! I guess I’m the oddball because I record my videos in nature, in the woods, by rivers, all sorts of outdoor spots and use the live outdoor takes. There’s always some sort of “distraction” such as birds squawking, a train horn in the distance, etc. but I don’t mind it, and the nature ambience is nice imo. Definitely takes wayyyyy more takes out there in the woods though, and the recording setup is never as good as my home studio (not possible to drag neve pres and tube mics outside lol)

Great video! It would be interesting to know how you manage the audio editing with the video editing, because we may not notice the differences between audio takes glued together. However, we do notice that on video.

I remember when I started practicing, wondering why all my favorite youtubers sounded so majestic, I didn't even know what reverb was, it caused me so much anxiety and insecurity when playing, as you get yourself into mixing you start learning all those little things, I wish I had seen this video 5 years ago, great video.

Excellent video! Superb playing as well!! A question if I may: what would be the next steps for you after the editing? Do you bounce the two tracks down into one? Stereo? Add effects then? Master? I'm just trying to get a handle on the best way to wrap up a recording. Thank you for all the great work you do.

You know, being in the business for three decades now, I've never heard someone who can actually play concerned about studio "trickery". As you did put it so clearly, it's about a permanent artistic endeavour - a complete other beast compared to a live recital, for instance. BTW, there are players who I love the recordings but were fairly disappointing live, and the other way around: two different media, two distinct personalities to deal with each one.
