Your comment about buying patch shapes from an etsy seller was an "ah hah" moment for me! Do you have the name of a good shop you ordered from? I want Merrowly, but can't do it just yet, and the first order I have is for a rectangular patch.

Not really. I just look for appliqué patches in the shape that I want and then get rid of all of the extra layers and keep the shape.
