Perfect demo! Guys remember - making links with things you see could prevent the need to do an ES in real life. Example: If you see a ball bouncing in the street, what could be following that ball and what could you do to be safe? Yes - anticipate what could happen and slow down so then if the need to stop arises, it doesn’t need to feel so scary. So lots of planning ahead and anticipations skills. You’ve all got this 🙌🏼

I had this on my driving test while having to go 30mph and passed. I'm not gonna lie i was really upset after the test just because of how terrifying the emergency brake is

@@fitnessfran I had to do the emergency stop on a 30 road and downhill. The emergency stop can be done on any quiet road in the test.

@@fitnessfran I was asked to pull up to the side and he explained what was going to happen to do the emergancy brake and to drive as normal this was around a industrial estate but on a quiet road

@@fitnessfran I would like to think the examiner takes into account the deviation in stopping distances due to the speed and gradient of the road. So if your doing an emergency stop on a flat 20 road, the examiner expects you to stop much sooner than on a nsl country road for example. Your reaction time should be about the same.

I did this on my test. I actually floored it quickly from 0-30 MPH which was the speed limit just so no one can come from behind as in speeding and fail me. As I hit 29-30 MPH they signalled to stop and I braked hard and some stuff (maybe books) at the back went flying lol. I don’t think they expected me to be already at 30mph by then. When joining a single carriageway once I checked my interior mirror and saw a car right near me so I floored it to 60mph and pulled a gap and lifted off accelerator at perfect time.😂 What is funny is I never did this on any lesson before but needs must as in accelerate so fast. I thought I am not failing for nothing.😂 That test I must have done like 15 roundabouts. I took 2 tests and first test I failed on a roundabout as in being in the wrong lane once so I researched roundabouts for my next test 16 days later. First test I only had a few roundabouts as well and the second test around 15.😂

I had to stop my lessons with my instructor for various reasons but I now have my own car and practice with a family member and I’m taking my test in my own car. I never did the emergency stop in my lessons at all so is this something I can practice in my own car after seeing this video?

Hey Louise for sure! You should definitely be practicing this in a quiet area. Make sure your accompanying passenger knows to look behind to check there’s nothing following you before they say stop!

So is it best to brake then clutch I was taught to brake and clutch at the same time as mentioned in the video?😊

Definitely not! And that’s why you do observations! If something is actively overtaking you let them pass before you move

What happens if you stall when doing it if you do your observations after will you still pass it?

They don’t mind a stall on an emergency stop! Just get the car started and drive on with good observations when you’re told to and you’ll be fine 😊

Exactly! And the examiner will tell you they want you to move off again when you’ve secured the car (handbrake, neutral)

emergecy stop pff, try country roads! with blind couners and single file lanes. Horrific, I learned out in the essex countrside and my god I hate those roads.
