Oh I see now. Well, that's because all the seats have sensors in them and when they detect certain weight on them they assume there's a passenger sitting and need to buckle up. That's for safety purposes. Nonetheless, it's still interesting why it would keep beeping on you? 🤔 Because when I have adults riding in the back seat of our Highlander not all of them always buckle up. Aside from notification that pops up on my instrument cluster inside the dash board I don't get any beeps. I wonder if there's an option to disable the audible warning. I can investigate on that and see if I can find anything. Nonetheless, right at the moment I can't say for sure unfortunately if it's possible to disable it. But one thing I know for sure if you completely want to disable it you can get those used seat belt buckles from junkyard or salvage yards and buckle them up in your Highlander. That way sensors won't be triggered at all. I used to do that when I was young and single and didn't want to wear my seat belt in my 1996 Toyota Camry and it worked. 😂 Of course it was a dumb decision to do that on driver's seat, but then again I was in my late teens. 😂

At 1.22 when you we're gonna put it revers AGAIN what do you mean Iam I missing some of you video?
@SOBIsHobbies3 жыл бұрын
Hi. In that instance side mirrors are tilting down to show what's near the rear tires. It's meant to help when parallel parking in city streets so you won't end up scratching your wheels up against concrete curve. Of course this feature can be used in different applications as well. Hope this helps.

I have a question. I have a 21 limited Highlander. It would beep if I got close to the curb in the back and now it doesn’t do it. Has this happened to you?
@SOBIsHobbies2 жыл бұрын
Hello. So here’s what I learned thus far, our Highlander also beeps IF there’s something that’s high enough (height wise) to reflect parking sonar sensor’s signal. Not all curves get picked up by the sensor as Highlander has a higher ground clearance as opposed to traditional sedans. You can also adjust sensors’ sensitivity by going into options in your dashboard instrument cluster settings. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

@@SOBIsHobbies it would go off when it reached the yellow line and then the red line. I park in the same spot and it’s weird how now it just doesn’t do this. Cluster settings? Where exactly is that? Thank you
@SOBIsHobbies2 жыл бұрын
It’s the center display inside your dashboard between tachometer and speedometer. That’s where pretty much all of your control settings can be found regarding most of your safety features. Just out of curiosity did you happen to have any tree branches or any vegetations around the spot where you park? Or any type of other objects near the curve?

@@SOBIsHobbies I will check the dashboard later or tomorrow when I have time. Umm not at the moment. It’s just a curb and a wall behind it
@SOBIsHobbies2 жыл бұрын
I wonder if maybe you’re parking at certain angle and signal from sonar sensors was bouncing back and triggering the sensor to beep. Or maybe sensor settings have been inadvertently tampered while getting serviced or whatnot. Honestly it’s hard to say for sure what’s causing for sensors not to beep without seeing the vehicle in person, sorry. Feel free to to ask if you have any further questions.

Is there an option when your are parking where the car will beep to let you know how much space you have in front of you ?
@SOBIsHobbies3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. If yours is equiped with parking sonar sensors then as you come close to objects sensor up front and at the back will begin to beep and let you know that you're coming close to an obstruction. And beeps will increase as you get closer to the object. Also your instrument cluster will show which sensor(s) is detecting the signal.

Thank you. There is no power folding mirror option available (yet) on Highlanders even at top Platinum trim. That is one of the features I wish our Highlander came with. Nonetheless, Toyota did not include it in current generation Highlander unfortunately. Maybe it'll be added in next generation Highlander whenever Toyota completely redesigns it again. 😀 Thanks for watching.

@@SOBIsHobbies There is option for folding mirrors in the EU version + dedicated button (I'll find the pic). I'm waiting for retrofit in the US ver. Btw do you have remote start via app?
@SOBIsHobbies3 жыл бұрын
Yes, we do have remote start option available via app as well as through key fob. Nonetheless, my gripe with it is that as soon as you open your doors engine shuts off. I wish engine would continue running untill you press the engine start/stop button or when you try to shift into gear. Our previous Hyundai Santa Fe and Cadillac XT5 remote start would let the engine run all the way until you push on that engine start/stop button. But of course having even that kind of remote start feature is better than having none. 😁 We're just going to have to get used to it. Europe and some other continents do have better options and features available than N. American variants. However, that usually comes at a cost. These vehicles cost more there than they here. Therefore manufactures often take cost cutting measures to meet government standards and board's profit expectations.

Parking Assist can become unavailable when the rain comes down hard.
@SOBIsHobbies3 жыл бұрын
When it rains hard or there's icy snow it normally trips the sensors including radar cruise sensor and sonar parking sensors. Not to mention cameras get all covered up too where it's hard to see through them. Therefore, my best advice is to always look over your shoulders and check side mirrors when parking or backing up. I used to drive 18 wheelers and I'm already accustomed to using side mirrors and visually checking my sides before parking or backing up. Having these electronic assistances is definitely a great thing, but I personally would never solely rely on them. Thanks for watching!

@SOBIsHobbies3 жыл бұрын
Hi. Thank you for your comment. Two things: 1. It’s not 4Runner. It’s a Highlander, Toyota’s midsize crossover. It does compete in the same category as Toyota 4Runner though. However, one is body-on-frame platform whereas the other one is a unibody. 2. I never said auto self-parking assist, which I know is a feature that’s offered on much higher priced vehicles. Auto tilting mirrors are part of the parking assist feature that this Highlander has along with sonar parking sensors, 360 degree surround view camera, trajectory lines on infotainment system when parking and etc. I’m sorry, I’m not trying to sound ignorant but how else would you recommend me calling this feature? Or what its purpose if not parking assistance?Thank you!

Thanks for sharing the link and watching my video. It's basically the same concept as I demonstrated on my video. Once you have your seating position set to seat's memory setting it'll remember that setting until it's re-programmed. I learned about this feature (believe it or not) from our 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited Ultimate. Hyundai was already offering these features back then. However, our 2017 Highlander Platinum Hybrid did not have it. Luckily starting this new 4th generation Highlander Toyota began to offer this feature. It really comes handy when parallel parking in tight city streets like in NYC or backing up through tight spots or whatnot. Feel free to ask if you have any questions.
@coleplacemb3 жыл бұрын
@@SOBIsHobbies I don't think you understood what I meant. You showed how to enable or disable movement of the side mirrors when placing the vehicle into reverse. However, Steven Welch's video shows how to set at what angle and how much you want each mirror to move. For instance, you might want your passenger side mirror to move down quite a bit so that you get a clear view of the curb, but you might not want your left mirror to move so much or maybe not at all so that you can maintain a clear view of the road traffic on your left side mirror. Watch his video to see what I mean. It really has nothing to do with seating position settings.

I see what you're saying. Thanks for that info. However, I'm totally satisfied with the amount of my side mirrors tilt as they are when I'm backing up. I think default setting is plentiful. Nevertheless, it's certainly a good information to know, since everyone's needs/wants are different. Have a great weekend!

@@SOBIsHobbies QUOTE: "I'm totally satisfied with the amount of my side mirrors tilt as they are when I'm backing up." /QUOTE He said in his video that on his car lot, he had a Toyota that when placed into reverse, the side mirrors went up! And I really appreciate it. I didn't have to do anything to adjust my mirrors when I put in reverse for the first time with parking assist feature engaged on the side mirrors. They went down as I expected them to in my very first try, just like it was with our 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe. Therefore, it didn't even cross my mind that instead of going down they could go up on some people. That may come handy when entering low clearance garages or whatnot probably, but for most people I think they want them to go down so they can see what's on the ground. And I hope, I didn't sound arrogant or like a jerk by my previous replies. I certainly appreciate all the inputs. I just thought, my review on that feature was enough to give an idea that it exists on these vehicles and owners should know about them. Thank you again for your input!!

Nothing happened on my 2021 Hybrid XLE. Remove the video
@SOBIsHobbies3 жыл бұрын
That means your XLE isn't equiped with that feature. Not all trims have this or some other features. Ours is Platinum trim and all of my videos made based off of our Highlander Platinum. If your XLE is not equiped with this option it doesn't mean I need to remove my video, because not everyone has an XLE trim. There are plenty of Highlander owners with Limited or Platinum trims who may not know about this trick. They may find this video to be helpful.

@@SOBIsHobbies Something else, as the term already means, “car parks it for you” in the industry.
@SOBIsHobbies2 жыл бұрын
That’s why they call it “Autonomous Parking Assist” because car parks itself. Meanings: “Autonomous” - having the freedom to govern itself or control its own affairs. “Assist” - help (someone), typically by doing a share of the work. Parking assist as name suggests helps with parking but won’t do it for you. Autonomous parking assist on the other hand, would park the car for you. Sorry, I can’t break it down any further than this. This is as simplest way as I can explain. Hope this helps.
