How to Enable Users to Log into Synology Google Workspace Recovery Portal

updating to DSM 7.x+ breaks google ldap and it takes a lot of unorthadox and possibly warranty voiding work to trick the device in to rolling back to 6.2.x to get it working again. currently sat with 3 very expensive enterprise doorstops at DSM 7.2 waiting for them to fix it over a year after reporting the problem :-(
