I went through 3 years of intense stress and so last week I rage-cut my hair. I cut off 12 inches of perfectly beautiful hair that I loved dearly (because of you, Silvia - been following and listening to your advice for 11 or 12 years now?) So the next day I managed to pull my shit together and try to fix my hair and I ended up with an above the shoulder bob. I am so emotionally destroyed and wracked with grief when I look in the mirror. *I NEEDED THIS VIDEO TO HAPPEN*. Thank you so much for it, and it hasn't even premiered yet. This is the kind of advice I have been looking for because I had my hair bleached at the salon to a level 10 (she did a great job), only to have two deaths in the family and having more than half of the thickness fall out at the root due to shock and high stress levels. T H A N K Y O U !! I agree, the dimethicone closes the hair structure, which means that the existing dead (bleached) hair gets zero nourishment.

Silicone is highly misunderstood because there are silicones that are water soluble and washes out in the next shampoo however silicone in products like Pantene that silicone isn’t water soluble and it buildup and can even block color. Fragrance is a marketing tool.

What about using the oil from chin length and down. I was educated to use on "my" hair, speaking for myself. That if I use from the chin down to the ends OGX, this I do and I leave on for 24 hours before I shampoo. I never need to use this on my scalp because I already have an oily scalp and if I was to do it on the scalp I would be worried about the oil I was depositing. My daughter did have a problem with this bc of our water and we have to use a clarifying shampoo 1 x every couple time a month. I do appreciate learning about the coconut oil. This contradicts everything else I have learned I feel like my head is spinning. Huh!!! do love you. Question is there still a product that is a additive for box color to help with Red tones?

Silvia, what do you know about pumpkin oil? It is supposed to help hair loss. Is that orally or topically or both?
@Ellebangs10 ай бұрын
Pumpkin seed oil scientifically proven to block DHT, while also stimulating the follicles and delivering nutrients to the scalp. This means that pumpkin seeds initially target the catagen and telogen phases of the hair growth cycle, working to minimize excess shedding. Some DHT-blocking ingredients may cause other side effects. Considering this wouldn't be a forever option so I am not a fan of this oil. Also when you stop using it your levels could be a bit off and you end up loosing more hair than you gained. Blocking DHT is a very common way to re grow hair its nothing new we are just descovering this effect from more natural derived ingredients but still not for me.

Hi. Sorry but I never heard that Coconutoil is bad for your hair…i thought its one of the few that penetrates the hair and works against proteinloss. Can someone please enlighten me??
@clipinqueen10 ай бұрын
OMG, I was going to say this as well! Suddenly coconut is too heavy to penetrate the hair? I don't think so. The only bad thing about it is that it can act like a protein and build up on the hair.
@Ellebangs10 ай бұрын
coconut oil a lone is not bad for the hair- the problem is that it only sits on the surface of the hair- it feels hydrating but doesn't actually heal your hair- Even worse, if you apply a coconut oil product on the hair and follow with a really great leave-in nothing will penetrate the coconut oil thus eliminating the benefits of other products.
@kathrinfink966210 ай бұрын

I use chi ammonia free color. What oil is best for scalp treatment that wont lift the color? I know some pull color like coconut right?
@Ellebangs10 ай бұрын
Rosemary and amla oil help restore your natural hair color and prevent new grays from forming. However these oils work best with a carrier oil, so a single ingredint oil won't always work. a nice blend of rosemary and argan oil would be a great option for gray hair.

It could be from over processing. Going brown insn't necessarily what you need, as long as you can stop processing your ends and mid-lengths this will improve the state of your hair.

Hi Sylvia!🩷 so obsessed with you and your videos - subscribed for over 5-7 years now I imagine. Two questions: 1. Is it bad if coconut oil is an ingredient in my Bondi Boost shampoo and conditioners? I'm guessing not but just checking. 2. Is it true that sleeping on wet hair/letting it air dry over night is bad for the hair? If so- why?
@Ellebangs10 ай бұрын
Hi! great questions, so in the video I said coconut oil is one of the worst oils for hair, what I mean is it doesn't have much benefit other than when its sitting on the hair. Is it going to damage your hair? no, of course not but I have only ever seen people sweat by coconut oil that have already long thick hair to begin with. Therefore they use it as a means to tame their hair and not "heal" it. hair products that contain coconut oil I am fine with they typically have other ingredients supporting the hairs health more long term. Sleeping in wet hair is great for the hair- meaning you are saving it from getting heat on it while its most vulnerable but it is pretty bad on the scalp. Since our hair health depends on our scalp maintaining proper scalp care is essential. I have definitely gone to bed with my hair still wet it just isn't something we should do often. You can create mold on the scalp and clog follicles, in the long tun this can be detrimental to your hair growth and health.

@Ellebangs10 ай бұрын
Great question, Jojoba is great on the hair, however I do prefer argan oil I feel like it serves more hair types and has very similar benefits. Also jojoba is actualy a type of wax and not actually an oil. Considering they are so similar I wouldn't use both so argan oil always wins for me.

I stopped watching after you said coconut molecules are too big to penetrate the hair shaft. I'm pretty sure that is incorrect!
@Ellebangs10 ай бұрын
In comparison to other natural oils that in addition have way more hair benefits, coconut oil doesn't even come close. I will say I have clients with thick gorgeous hair that use coconut oil. However they do have the most gorgeous hair that is un-colored and they have no heat styling routines. Is it from the coconut oil? What I am trying to explain in this video is how to treat more fatigues and damaged hair but if you are using coconut oil and are loving it, it isn't going to damage your hair, there is just much better options out there.
@KmD44810 ай бұрын
@@Ellebangs Coconut oil, being a triglyceride of lauric acid (principal fatty acid), has a high affinity for hair proteins and, because of its low molecular weight and straight linear chain, is able to penetrate inside the hair shaft.
