If you socialize with people outside your immediate family members, you are bound to be wasting your time in this rare human body gift that Shree Krishna has given you. If you watch TV or browse the Internet, it is almost exclusively diverting you away from devotion. We better realize this opportunity of a human birth and practice devotion as much as possible each day. We should stay away from distractions of the world and spend time in remembering the beautiful forms and 'leela' of Radha-Krishna. Swami Mukundananda Ji aptly explains all this in this short Q&A lecture. Wonderful answer given by him, as always !

Swami Mukundananda Ji explains one point about KarmYog that people do not think deeply about - we are involved in so many unnecessary and needless worldly activities on a daily basis; we should free ourselves from those needless worldly involvement. He also explains that we need to continue discharging our necessary worldly duties, such as responsibilities for our close family members, but we should do so without attachment, just as teacher cares for the student or a nurse cares for a patient. Very Very nicely explained by Swamiji !!!

Swamiji's insightful explanation of balancing worldly responsibilities with the highest forms of responsibility which are towards God, is very appealing. His emphasis on the fact that Karma sanyas is not the recommended path for most and being a Karma yogi, as taught in the Bhagavad Gita, is a more suitable goal to pursue, stimulates the intellect. If we can master the art and wisdom of dispensing worldly responsibilities without attachment, and with an attitude of internal yog with God, life would always be blissful!

It is important to strike a proper balance between worldly responsibilities and duties to God. We also have to survive in the world - get a place to stay, food to eat, money for daily living expenses! We cannot be a burden on someone else.

Swamiji beautifully explains that we should do away with unnecessary responsibilities to make time for devotion. He explains that the path of karm yog is suitable for majority of the people where we should do our necessary worldly duties properly but without attachment. The attachment of mind should be in God alone.

Take a look at this 7-minute video! Time well spent. What a heart and mind piercing answer from Swami Mukundananda! It includes apt reference to Vidur's Niti Shatak and to the Bhagavad Gita. Following advice from the Bhagavad Gita we can strive to have a balance between worldly responsibilities and our responsibility toward God. However, to strike this balance we must first look at our responsibilities and see which of these are necessary and which are unnecessary. There are so many responsibilities we can do away with. This is the starting point that Swamiji recommends to make room for devotion.

In this clip, Swami Mukundananda Ji explains that the highest responsibility is to invoke our devotion towards God along with the other worldly responsibilities. Swamiji instructs us the path of karmyog should be practiced to hold the balance between worldly responsibility and responsibility towards God. Tons of invaluable practical knowledge! A must-watch lecture!

I am very impressed with this lecture from Swamiji, because he gives a very practical and easy solution to doing Karm Yog. He also explains the risk associated with giving-up all worldly responsibilities for pursuit of God, the risk being becoming irresponsible. But, the practical and easy path to God is to lessen our worldly responsibilities and limit them as much as possible. Do not involve yourself in the world more than necessary. Then, spend the rest of the time in the day for spiritual sadhana.

This is a must-watch video for people who have this general question - " how to deal with worldly responsibilities when someone is interested to progress in devotional practices or sadhana." Basically we will have to find which ones are absolutely necessary, and which ones we can get away with?

The path of Karm Yog is prescribed for 99.99% of people for managing the worldly responsibility along with engaging in devotion. We should manage our responsibility towards the family, community, and country with a sense of duty towards them without being attached to the results. It will enable us to fulfill our highest responsibility towards God while engaging in the worldly duties. A practical solution for keeping a balance in the world.

We need to practice karma yog. Need to do neccessary duty to family and simultaneously attach our mind to God. Like the teacher does not lament if one child doesnt pass the exam. We should help our child but not lament if something didn't work out. If we do lament, we are missing our higher goal of doing devotion. Thanks Swamiji

Must watch video. Karma sanyas is giving up all the worldly responsibilities and attaching the mind all the time in god. But by giving up all the worldly responsibilities and NOT attaching mind in god is irresponsibility. So Karma sanyas is not recommended for everyone. Karma yog is the middle path as prescribed in Gita. Do your work without any attachment and keep the mind in god.
