I went to Kyoto on my first trip to Japan just before the pandemic swept over the world and I haven't been able go go back (I plan to go back next year). Kyoto was by far my favorite city to visit and I actually spent time there twice during my month long trip. The first time I got there during a typhoon so I didn't had much luck exploring Kyoto so I stopped by on my way back from Hiroshima before I had to go home. And I definitely fell in love with Kyoto. I only scratched the surface but I found a lot of fun places that few tourists had found so I was happy. Every night i sat down by the river and just enjoyed the moment. I was watching the restaurants on the balconies and wondered how it would be to actually sit there instead. Now I know how to try that one out next time at least so thank you for this. That BBQ place looked wonderful but expensive. 😍 Trying local food is the best thing with traveling. You experience new and interesting tastes and beautiful dishes. That is one of my favorite thing to do. I also love food markets, I can roam around them for hours. You must have the best job in the world! Trying out and promoting food in Japan. Where do I sign up? 😃 Thank you for a nice video as always!

Thanks for the video! It's very sad that rules had to be put into place because of tourists while I completely understand why it just is sad to see that the few disrespectful people have ruined experiences for those who respect locals laws and people. I never got to visit Kyoto last time I was in Japan ( before the new rules and restrictions) but my wife and I will be visiting Japan in the fall and Kyoto is part of our plans, she has never been to Japan so I am definitely looking forward to showing her the beauties of one of my favorite countries in the world! :)

I was in Gion last week and I thought the street closures were confusing. In December 2022, there were short wood barriers blocking the small alleyways, which made it clear that it was a private street. Now, the barriers are gone and people were wandering into the alleys. People may be able to guess that a public street has road signs and private alleys do not, but that's only if you're observant.,
