m0a.com How to enter Class D airspace - Radio communication is one of the most difficult things to grasp as it seems so different each time. However if you actually break it down it follows a similar pattern. My good friend Jamie Beckett always says "It's like ordering pizza. Who are you, where are you, and what do you want" Enjoy the video - Jason

I was taught to estimate distance on a straight in by using the runway length. An 8000 foot runway is about 1.5 miles. If you can fit two runways between you and the airport that's about a 3 mile final, and so on. Usually works out pretty good.

I’ve never been so inspired to follow my dreams of being a private pilot. Thanks Jason I recently went through your remotepilot101 course ( work asked me to take the course for drone surveying purposes ) and almost aced my part 107 only missed 2 questions, any way my true goal is to become an actual manned pilot and I am considering your mzeroa ground school. Someday I’m gonna go to an event your at just to shake your hand. Thanks again, Chris.

Good info. I fly Class G, a pilot controlled airport, all the time. Needed to get up to speed on Class D airspace. Thanks.

Just remember when you line up on a very extended straight in and it happens to be on an instrument approach, you might want to fly offset the final outside Class D because ATC may be vectoring another aircraft for that approach...and it could be a C550! ADSB is still 2 years out and relying on that as your "safe zone" for other traffic could be interesting. Aloha! Bob

Out here in Utah, I look foward to flying in Delta or Larger Airspaces! lots of guys dont talk on comms when flying in the vast areas of echo and some golf airspaces. Hope your enjoying the Tecnam! It was one of our old birds and we replaced it with a Baron 55!

wow. perfect timing. I just did my first cross country solo, the easier of the 2 I will do. The next one I will incorporate entering a class D to get my 3 towered landings and takeoffs. BIG Thanks for all your videos, been watching them religiously.

Always thought about flying, not sure i could project the required attitude toward others, everyone seems to treat others as if they are fools. Everyone has to start somewhere. I realize that this a very serious “sport” and any action may have a bad result.

Jason, ...another wonderful addition to your en-lightning series! But, when you describe the sight picture(s) you need to cut to that sight picture for us. You’ve got a Go-Pro pointing right out the cockpit ....A lot of us fly Sims, and as a consequence of our flat non-3-D picture, sight pictures are extremely helpful…just my humble, appreciative comment. Loved the video... Love most if not all of your videos where your passion in aviation really comes across and is much appreciated. With this video, i have one very minor critique. You have a Lanyard with Keys on the right yoke. Probably should not do that as the lanyard could catch and cause the controls to not react as you would think they should. Again very minor.

report 5 mile final is not the same as 'call you in 5 miles'. I realize that 10-5=5 but it would have been better to explain to the viewers what report 5 mile final means

How can a control tower not have radar?! Is that a common thing? Is that also why DME is required for the ILS approach in Ocala.....because the tower has no idea where you are?
@RacinZilla003
@RacinZilla003 7 жыл бұрын
Towers not having RADAR means that they're not controllers. Here in Canada, they're called Flight Service Specialists (FSS). They are basically capable of doing everything ATC can do, minus directing the flow of traffic.

I thought most controllers are not happy if you don't make your first call with your whole N number?
@ccubsfan94
@ccubsfan94 7 жыл бұрын
The N is usually left out when in the US due to that being the registration letter for the country. Most controllers are fine with the N being left out unless you are flying a US registered aircraft in another country or a aircraft registered in another country here in the US. The only time I really find it important is for planning/filing and opening flight plans with Flight Service, even when opening a plan most really don't care. The main thing is don't shorten the full (not including N) number until the controller does. Our flight school bought some planes with custom/close tail numbers which can throw things off. We have 48D 8UD 38D, so it can get confusing sometimes, there are a few others I can't think of off the top of my head too.
