LEARN HOW TO EPOXY YOUR OWN GARAGE FLOOR HERE:
mike-day.mykaj...
This video will show you how you can apply a tinted, 100% solids epoxy coating to your garage floor. I show you how to prep the concrete floor, how to remove an existing coating or paint, then how to apply the primer coat, colored epoxy coating, and a urethane top coat to protect the epoxy.
This is the best way to install an epoxy floor coating to your garage floor. If you're thinking of installing your own epoxy floor coating, this video shows you the steps involved and the process it takes to roll on the epoxy.
My crew and I are epoxy coating experts. We install epoxy floor coatings for our customers garages, shops, basements, showrooms, and much more.
My epoxy coating course teaches you exactly how my crew and I install epoxy coatings in garages just like the one in the video.
The course also shows you all the tools and supplies you need and the best places to get them. It tells you what I use for epoxy and why it's my favorite.

I love you guys’ work flow. I got hired last week at a local company and every work day is hectic bc i work with a guy who has me do everything except roll which I understand. I know im learning but i think he just wanted someone to do everything for him. I get it. I want to learn as much as i can and then quit and subcontract for someone else. He also skips steps like acid etching or washing concrete. He also doesn’t add primers.

We used that rustoleum stuff and it was absolutely horrible. We diamond grinded, etched, cleaned and followed all directions.They offer a guarantee but I sent the pictures and they wouldn’t respond. That’s a suweet lookin floor! Never worked with epoxy floor coverings but I’m gonna go ‘out on a limb’ here and bet that the secret to a nice looking epoxy floor that lasts is probably gonna be the prep work? Almost true with anything really. Prep, prep then prep again. 🤜🤛
@MikeDayConcrete
@MikeDayConcrete 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, the prep work is really important. That's why most homeowner diy epoxy floors fail. They're told to just acid etch then apply the big box epoxy. As soon as they drive on it with hot tires the epoxy peels right off under the tire. I grind all my floors before we do our epoxy floors. Never had one fail yet.

SIKA EPOXY IS ONE OF THE STRONGEST GRADE EPOXY. if your spending the money to get epoxy flooring done, get the right stuff. No shade to the creator of the video, if the epoxy is done properly with correct mixtures the finished product will last decades if not forever without gaining cracks or breaking chunks free. I have used Sika since I first began epoxy, and my dad did his floor and it remains unscathed for 20 years and counting

Costs around 100 grand for all the gear plus a van and trailer to carry it in, after that it’s cost of materials, once the first jobs done it’s all maintaining gear like rollers and grind wheels and such. Cost of material will be paid off first job, it’s basically floating the product to the customer until they pay. After that it all pays for itself as long as you do good work

Yes it will need to be prepped. The purpose for grinding is opening up the pores of the concrete to create a surface that the product can grab and bind to. Even newly poured concrete will dry in a way that will not be ideal to bond to whatever product is being applied. Hope this helped!

@MikeDayConcrete
@MikeDayConcrete 3 жыл бұрын
1. Unless the slope is very steep, the epoxy shouldn't run to the drain. Always tape over the drain though to protect it. 2. The epoxy will hide the repaired cracks, yes. 3. You can repair it with some kind of leveler. Just have to let it cure fully before applying epoxy over it.

There are a couple of areas right under the lift that have been cleaned 100 times with solvents and we've got maybe three dime sized areas that basically just wore through that showed up when I pressure washed it. I've spilled every automotive fluid out there on it, dragged forklift forks across it, and generally just used it, and it has held up great. Is that just a normal 7" grinder? What sort of head do you recommend for that? I saw you mention the DiamaBrush for the larger tool; is it the same sort of head for the handheld?

If its a brand new garage... new construction do you need that diamond grind step or can you go straight to cleaning then priming?

Hi Great video and thanks! I have a brand new house with a clean white garage floor that has never had a car on it yet. Do I still need to go the the Diamabrush step or should I just use a cleaner and then the primer coat?

can you just primer over paint ? The place I work at want the floor epoxied, but it is a semi-cleanroom and particles can become an issue.

I am not able to empty my garage to coat floor. Can I move everything to one side, do floor? Wait 2-3 day move everything to completed side , then finish floor? Not the best way I know but I have no choice. Thanks
@MikeDayConcrete
@MikeDayConcrete 4 жыл бұрын
Jeff, you can, yes. If you don't have a saw joint in the middle of the floor for a stop point, just use some tape (blue or duct) and tape a straight line. Do your epoxy, then pull the tape about an hour after you lay the epoxy. It'll leave a nice straight line. Then tape on top of the epoxy when you do the other side.

If you apply when concrete is still curing (dry to the touch but not quite 120 days yet), will the moisture well up and form a wet spot visible from the above? There’s a mysterious pool of wetness in my shed but there’s no roof leak anywhere

Can't have any moisture coming up through the floor and use this stuff. Have to fix that first.

when you roll you don’t leave roller marks. why is that? is it because the roller marks disappear because the epoxy self levels?

I did my garage floor about 6 months ago, and I used Sakrete Flo-Coat to try to level the garage, due to pitting. I did grind off the existing paint. What should I use or do to repair the pitting and spalling before applying the epoxy?

Can you round the corner between the block wall and the concrete floor, then paint the epoxy up on the 1st row or two of a concrete block wall? Also, where are you guys located? I'm in east Tennessee. I wish I had you guys to do my floors (and walls) at my workshop!! What filler material would you use to make a radius transition between the floor and the walls?
