@@olhasum4721 yes!! i figured it out!! so basically whatever drive is left after the accidental deletion, usually it says' apple something' or whatever drive is there, erase it and rename it , MacinoshHD, make sure spell it correctly. The drive will magically show up! i hope it helped!

@@olhasum4721 yes I did! I renamed the “Apple ssd” that is left over after deleting the Macintosh ssd. Rename it to MacintoshHD make sure it’s spelt correctly! And reboot with an OS

I have an ssd but it gives me the option for APFS and Mac OS extended for the format It also gives me a scheme drill down with 3 options. GUID Partition Map, Master Boot Record, and Apple Partition Map I'm assuming I want master boot record if I want Big Sur to run entire 500 Gb drive?

Its blows my mind they dont just offer a factory reset and you gotta waste your time going through your partitions on a unix based system only to not have root access when youre trying to erase a user. Should be able to just live boot a clean install like it were windows or linux. I hate mac. Always have

Hi, My mom has an older refurbished 2015 Mac with quad core 3.1 ghz, 8GB and a 1TB SATA drive. She inadvertently upgraded and the Catalina upgrade needs more disk space than she has. This has made it almost impossible for her to do anything with her computer now. Time Machine was not installed as she only uses it for email, Facebook, Facebook games or surfing google. She also saves hundreds of photos. I have no idea what version of iOS she had installed and cannot find it listed on her paperwork. I can see the 1 TB Sata drive listed, but there is nothing on it. Can you recommend a way to reformat her drive to an earlier IOS that doesn't use so much space and also how to access the I TB Sata drive? Thanks

Well, you shouldn’t really try to unlock it yourself and trying something which you don’t know as it might do some extra bit damage. You can just take it to any Apple Store, or Apple Reseller or any authenticated Tech Guy Like *MOE* where they sell MacBook They’ll just log onto iTunes on their Mac and your problem should be resolved in 10-15 minutes. They effort required is very less, it’s just about knowing the thing that you’re doing. *MOE* charges are less. By the way, technically they shouldn’t ask for anything as it isn’t a laborious work at all so if you argue enough with them, they might not charge you But also, they will ask you for the Apple ID and Password. So, it would be better to change the password after the work has been done just for security purposes
