Thank you for showing me where this was! I didn’t go far enough back! I’ve been using a popsicle stick to apply and have mostly good results, but a few not etched spots. Paintbrush looks like it will work much better! And glad the cream is supposed to be crystally.

Great video!! You can also scrape off extra Etching Cream prior to rinsing off and save it!

I love the new mic and camera angles! I saw Jennifer Maker do a tutorial on etching glass as well. The only difference was that she continually moved the cream around with her brush for 3 minutes straight. I’m curious why you let your sit and did not move the cream around constantly for the time allotted?

I usually don't stir again but I have seen people stir at like the mid-way mark so around 2 1/2 minutes. But I don't stir constantly.

It will say permanent on the package. The newer versions say permanent on the back as well.

Did you do the wine glasses the same or did you remove the letters and then etch?

I removed the letters on that one. In any case, remove what you WANT TO BE etched.

I just use contact paper from the Dollar Tree you're using it and then throwing it away anyway why waste the good stuff! I've been using Armor Etch for a few years now, since I got my first Cricut and it is the best, I definitely would be scraping off the excess and putting it back in the bottle that stuff is great... don't wanna waste that either! Lol

I always have some leak under if I use the cheap stuff! Maybe I am unlucky! I have scraped it off before but always wonder how many times you can actually do that before it is not effective any more.

I would try pushing it around more to make sure you get all of the air bubbles out. Then maybe let it sit longer than recommended on the bottle.

If you don't have Cricut premium vinyl, can you use permanent vinyl or should it be removable vinyl?

Permanent vinyl works BEST. Removable allows for more bleeding.

Why are you wearing gloves while working with the vinyl? I’d be afraid that it would stick so bad, that the vinyl would be on everything but the glass! Lol. I have tried this etching cream, and it didn’t work very well...I’m going to try again after watching this...!

The oils from your hands can actually make the cream not work very well. So I use gloves to make sure I don't get any of those oils on the vinyl or on the glass.

Using new glass rather than old is very important. Old glass just won’t etch well at all. I bought new casseroles and other items to etch and they are wonderful gifts and using for marking your pot luck shared meals. I made some gorgeous gifts for my 3 sons’ work desks using short square glass containers from Dollar Tree. One holds paper clips and one is his personal candy dish, or pens. I simply etched their initials vertically in a nice font, down one side. They look expensive, but only cost a dollar plus the stencil and etching cream, which I always scrape off and put back in the jar. I like doing straight sided jars, too, with a good lid that I paint and decorate. Then glue it to a clear glass candle holder for an apothecary jar. I have candy dishes for every season like that!
