Hey Matt, first of all, thanks for your videos, they are very helpfull! I got a question/problem: I made an 1920 x 817 sequence in Premiere Pro CC 2018. When iam exporting my video in - Quick Time pro res 422 HQ - I got a 1920 x 817 video and everything is fine. But when iam exporting in H264 for youtube I only can export 1920 x 816. Where is the one pixel? I want it. Iam a perfectionist. ;) Can you help? Best regards from Germany, Leo

Hey Matt - thanks for this!!! Way needed by me- question for you... I can airdrop audio from my iphone (.mov) - into Premiere CC 2020 no problem and it plays/sounds fine etc. Will it export okay? I have like 80 slides to add short audios so i'm scaring myself I'd get all the audio done and then not be able to export. Do I need to convert .mov into something else to get the perfect export -using your LIFE SAVING instructions here? thx much

Awesome tutorial! One question though! Is it really necessary to render a video at 40mbps CBR for a good quality youtube video when KZbin is going to compress it to 8-12mbps for a 1080p video anyways no matter what mpbs you render it at? There is an official KZbin recommended bitrates for each resolution saying 8mbps is optimal for 30fps and 12mbps for a 60fps video. Also, a huge difference plays the fact whether your video is going to be encoded with the AVC codec, which is common for newer/not popular channels/videos or VP9 which actually gives you the best quality you can get on KZbin. For instance, I make a video for my new channel at 16mbps 1080p and it looks really cool on my PC, but when I upload it and it gets encoded via AVC it degrades it and it looks pixelated. It all comes to not being worthy to mess with quality that much until you get some traffic on a channel and VP9 codec comes into the game. What's your opinion on this? Mixla
@whoismatt5 жыл бұрын
Hey! The best way I can explain it is you’re basically compressing a video twice when uploading it to KZbin. Premiere is going to compress it once, then KZbin is going to compress it again when you upload. In all my testing, I’ve found that uploading a higher bitrate video is going to result in way less compression artifacts once KZbin compressed it again. :) I try to render high bitrate regardless of how KZbin will compress it.
@toby84624 жыл бұрын
Honestly it is silly to use CBR, You get the same results if you have VBR1 and you set the Max at 40MBPS, let the software decide how much is required.

Question: If your camera only shoots at 24Mbps, then wouldn't it be futile to render at anything above 24Mbps? In other words - you can't 'improve' the quality that the camera originally shot at by upping the bit rate, correct?
@whoismatt7 жыл бұрын
+sappysnuggles hey! It also depends on your camera's codec. This codec is often different from the codec you would be using for exporting. Also the bitrate would change again when KZbin encodes at a different bitrate again. There's so many factors.
@tobiaslofi7 жыл бұрын
sappysnuggles short answer: you are right
@hbomberguy7 жыл бұрын
Long answer, maybe. Sometimes cameras record into more compressed formats which would require more data with another codec. Lots of editors shoot in MTS or MP4 containers using their camera's recording, but then convert the files to Prores or another more editing-friendly format. The same footage in Prores format is LARGER than the previous versions because of how the data's handled. Basically, while there's probably not THAT much of an improvement rendering higher than your original format, there could well be one because the differences in format mean different compression of the same footage.
@whoismatt7 жыл бұрын
+hbomberguy correct, but you also have to remember that KZbin isn't using a lossless compression of your video when you upload it. So by using a higher bitrate in your video, it will make it look better on KZbin once it is compressed. :)
@tobiaslofi7 жыл бұрын
Also it depends on your editing program and how powerful your pc/Mac is: FCPX likes to transcode everything to ProRes in the background... it takes up lots of space but even a MacBook Air can then edit 4K!! PP likes for you to have a strong computer and is able to edit most video files natively in HD but struggles a bit more with 4K so now they offer automatic transcoding too. But some people believe that transcoding any video file into the highest quality 10bit 444colorspace will give them magically better quality to work with when color correcting/ grading - which is not true! Look at this: premierepro.net/workflow/transcode-not-transcode/
