Update for Davinci Resolve 18 for anyone confused, they have moved the "export edit index" function to its own spot under the menu accessed by clicking the three dots of the edit index itself (the place where "show markers" was located). You select the three dots, and it will be at the bottom of the list. Make sure you have the timeline open that you want to export markers from.

Thank you, it was very helpful. You can use a formula in Google Sheets or Excel to remove frames: =LEFT(B2,LEN(B2)-3) Just create an empty column to the right from your original timecode, and put it there. B2 is the first cell from your video, LEN means "length" of the string, and -3 means how many symbols to remove. Then you just drag this formula down through the whole table, and you are done.

quick tip: when you use notepad++ (and some other programs) you can select column in text. When holding ALT you can click and drag the column you need to delete. This will select text in underlaying lines only in the column width you create when dragging the mouse. This way you can easily select the last digits from the time code.

@@JasonYadlovski Yeah. Its just a lot of tracing specific things. Being able to put everything in to an excel chart has really helped. Its a shame Premiere doesn't have this ability. Trying to solve a puzzle of my own led me here. Good video! I need to post multiple videos from a single timeline. Within Davinci, posting directly to KZbin works great for most, and it's fast, but some of the videos fail to upload so I upload those manually. How do I get the markers to export properly when the In/Out of the video to be exported starts hours into the timeline and I need it to say 0:00 at the beginning?
@JasonYadlovski3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! So for those cases, if you are exporting the video from 'hours into the video' you're going to have to make new markers or modify the timecode so that it matches match with the new export. I think I'd just try to make a new timeline with the portion of the video you need. I think you can copy the markers too and then on the new timeline, it will be correct starting at 0:00. Does that make sense?
@LensMyth3 жыл бұрын
@@JasonYadlovski Thanks, that is a reasonable solution for me to do once in a while. (in edit page, r-click above in-out bar and "create compound clip from in/out" and drop that into a new timeline, and somehow copy over markers) I'd like to learn to copy markers for many reasons such as for copying timeline markers onto the clips below, since if I move clips around I lose all my markers...

Any ideas on how I can export the markers from the media tab at the bottom? I don't want to create timelines for each video and I've maked a bunch of notes on each video already. Wondering if there's a way to just run a script (or make a menu button that will do so) to export a csv of all markers for every video in the media library? Thank you!
@JasonYadlovski3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I’m not sure if there’s a way to do a custom export like you’re talking about. With the method in this video be too time-consuming with the way you have your markers set up currently? You should not need a separate timeline for each video, you could put them all in one timeline and export everything together, I think that would work OK.

Thanks for this - I had found how to export the Edit Index, but didn't realize you had to define the Edit Index, first! Now I know how to do this! But I have some improvements for you… Two points… first, the default start time in Resolve is at 1 hour, so you do need to change your timeline to start at 00:00:00:00 for this to work (you had done this, but others may not realize), or all the timestamps will be off by an hour. And second, I have an "easy" way to remove the frames in Numbers (same formula should work in Excel, since that's where I found this!). 1. Delete instead of hiding the other columns… makes this easier to follow. So you should only have columns A (Source In aka timecode) and B (Notes aka chapter names) 2. Insert a new column between columns A and B (right-click on either column header and "Add Column Before" or "After") 3. In the first data cell of Column B (this will be cell B2), type the = symbol to bring up the formula editor, then paste in "LEFT(A2,LEN(A2)−3)" (without the quotes). A2 is the first cell with timecode. This formula basically says to delete the last three characters of this text block, which will remove the last colon and frames numbers. 4. Grab the little yellow dot at the bottom of the cell B2 that has your cleaned-up timecode, and drag to the bottom of your list Now, continue just as you did, coping the cleaned up timestamps and the description to paste into KZbin!

yea, I made this even easier.. I wrote an app for Windows that does all of this automajically.. ;) you export the csv file from DaVinci, drag that export to my app and my app makes it KZbin friendly.. you can either save it as a txt file, or copy to the clip board and paste into KZbin.. just a few clicks and your done.. Also great for your videos that you didn't upload with markers.. would love to share this app, but, I don't have any resource needed to do that, i.e., web site, etc.. what I could do, is make a video showing it being used and drop a link here, if any interest.
