Still same idea on 2024? I thought S cinetone is supposed to be straight forward ? Probably you could have added your settings on your camera for viewers to see so they can judge the changes for themselves …
@mirrorlessmemory3 жыл бұрын
In the settings, if you go into metering>spot metering point and change it from center to focus point link, the exposure meters gives you a meter based on what’s in focus. Maybe still not accurate but way better than having it at center.

I believe exposing it around 103-106% with zebra levels adds more dynamic range for the footage while at the same time preseriving the highlight details. The only thing to consider is you have to adjust the exposure/highlights down at post to recover the highlights. This setting is not set for skintones but for the scene highlights.

When you say 80% (or any %) are you using “Lower Limit”, “Standard Range”, or one of the preset Zebra levels?

hi there great video very helpful. I shoot underwater with Sony A7 s3 scinetone wide angle. I want mu blue background to be correctly exposed. should I use zebras for that what percentage? any other suggestions to improve my videos underwater such as metering mode or -0.3 underexposing. thx again.
@HarvVideoAudioStuff2 жыл бұрын
Hmm I’ve got zero experience with underwater video so I couldn’t advise as to a percentage for your zebras. However what you could do is a get a couple of test shots at different exposure levels and then check the ire of the background from the best exposed clip in editing, in theory you could match your zebras to that and bingo 😄👍🏻 btw i definitely would recommend against using the exposure meter, it’s so inaccurate/bad lol

unless I just happened to miss it it would have been much simpler and easier to understand if you just told us what numbers we should look out for on the multi metering thing. like in slog they say aim for 1.7 I'm honestly really confused on what you're talking about
