Thank you for the reply Jesse. I was told an inverter generator would work against my inverter mig welder. My question is really, is it possible to use an inverter generator of the correct KVA to power an inverter welder. I thought a pure sign wave generator of the correct size would supply clean power for the welder so would be better than a normal generator. Thank you I love your easy to understand videos I have learnt a lot from them. regards Paul

Shout out to Jesse! I had some issues with y solar setup, and could not get the answers I needed from the manufacturer, an electrician and a good friend. I hired Jesse. I was a bit nervous counting on someone halfway around the world to guide me, but Jesse came through with flying colors. If you have issues you can't resolve, don't hesitate to hire Jesse to consult. You won't be disappointed.

@@SolarSolutionThat was quite a compliment to you Jesse!👍 I'm sure it was well deserved. I'm so impressed by your knowledge, and always learn something from you every time I watch you. You've given this 60 year old man, the confidence of being in the process of building a 2000 watt solar system in a large toolbox. I figured it's probably going to end up weighing about 60 lbs or so. A little heavy, but still portable enough to take anywhere. Thank you so much for everything you do. Be safe brother. Scott

Have a question about an upgrade I want to make on a boat. Boat has a single 12V starter battery that is also the house battery (for fish finder, radio etc). Outboard motor has 60amp (at full rpm) alternator, about 30 amps at 1000 rpm, available to charge the starter/house battery. Boat also has (2) 12V batteries in series for a 24V trolling motor. Would like to set it up to where the starter/house battery/motor charge the 24V bank when the motor is running. When the motor is not running want the 24V bank to augment the 12V house/starter bank, to give extended fishing time without using the outboard motor. Was thinking about setting up both a 12V to 24V Victron charger AND a 24V to 12V DC converter between the 2 banks to accomplish this. The Victron charger would only come on when it senses the starter voltage at >14V when the engine is running and the DC converter could be set at about float voltage for the house/starter side, say about 12.7V. What do you think about this idea? Any issues?

Is charging a lead acid slower always better or does it make no difference as long as its under a certain amperage? In terms of capacity, if I charge at 0.2C will I get more capacity out of it on that charge if I do it at 0.05C?

Another great video. Thanks!! I have a question. If I am primarily dockside with my boat, plugged into shore power would it be best to disconnect (isolate) my solar panels? If I understood your section on power supply settings, it sounds like the job of maintaining optimum charge would be best kept to the battery charger without extra input from the solar panel.

Hai , my name is Rahul and Iam from India.I watched your channel videos regarding inverter batteries and thanks for the valuable informations.I want to clear some doubts with you regarding my inverter battery. Iam using a 1kv off grid solar PCU in which we can manually caliberate the battery bulk & float voltage of which Iam a little bit confused of these voltages which is good for my system battery health,backup & life.Iam using 150AH c10 battery. My Solar PCU charges the battery in three stages & auto equalise in a month.The PCU default values are For SPV, bulk-15v,float-14.2v For grid, bulk-14.5,float-13.8v Both values seems a little bit higher I think so.I tried to get the specific voltages for the battery from it’s company but I couldn’t.My battery & solar PCU is of same company. The temperature here in my area depending on the monsoon & summer goes from 26 degree Celsius to 36. Kindly help me with the best voltage values for charging my battery. Thanks to you,god bless you.

After watching this video it seems to me the car's charging system doesn't do a very good job at keeping the battery topped up. I just replaced the battery on my car with a fully charged one, I drove the car around and today morning I measured the voltage which was 12.6v. My car is very likely to keep the battery at 12.6v since I don't drive that much, it will not discharge but also never fully charge. Is my battery's health going to go worse soon?
@miton2357
@miton2357 Жыл бұрын
The 12.6V is perfectly fine as a resting voltage the next day. Try measuring right after driving for 50 miles or an hour or so. You'll also most likely see an increased voltage when the engine is on or better yet, revving it to 3-5k.

My 155AH battery was not performing well, I washed it with baking soda and plenty of water. Then I put 1.25 gravity sulphuric acid in it's cells. Now the gravity of acid inside the battery is dropped to 1.11. Even after charging the gravity is not raising. What will be the cause, plz suggest any solution. The gravity dropped imminently after putting acid in the battery. There was no water remaining inside the battery.
@SolarSolution
@SolarSolution 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Ali, thank you for your message. It sounds like you are on a steep learning curve, that must feel exciting! Soda washing comes with it's specific advantages, though it is often used to 'squeeze' a little more lifetime out of a battery which has already reached it's end of lifetime [EOL]. You mentioned that your battery was not performing well, do you have an idea as to what could have caused this? Examples of such causes are: Prolonged undercharging, deep discharging, elevated operating temperatures, excess voltages, high cycles, etc.
@alisalman3615
@alisalman3615 3 жыл бұрын
@@SolarSolution I guess it happened due to undercharging for a month. Plz make a video on "to what extent we can discharge a lead acid battery(voltages). Proper voltage and amperage for charging. The maximum limit of charging in volts. The setting parameters of solar charge controller.

For some reason now I can only get 1 to 2 hours only. When charging batteries it does not take more than an hour to fully charge. I have run it dry to 0% maybe 6 to 8 times within the 9 months. Any idea on why the the batteries are underperforming?
@tirivaenim
@tirivaenim 2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you have either AGM or Lead Acid Battery. This should NEVER be discharged more than 50% (depth of discharge), this degrades performance. If you are charging via an inverter, make sure inverter switches off at 45% depth of discharge or worst case 50%.

Someone recommended adding sulfuric acid every 6 months instead of water to extend the battery life. Should this be done? Or should acid never be added to a battery?
@miton2357
@miton2357 Жыл бұрын
Don't. The gasses are due to the electrolytic breakdown of water, not the sulfuric acid. This means you're only losing water, not acid. In fact, adding more acid only speeds up the degradation due to an increased rate of corrosion.

I find your videos useful in confirming much of what I myself have learned over 20 years of off grid living (solar with lead acid submarine type batteries). One perhaps negative point I feel I should mention is that very occasionally you are incorrect or inprecise in what you say. You have said that at specific times batteries create 'air' bubbles, did you mean hydrogen (& oxygen, effectively HHO)? The difference and potential omition of this explosive hazard is worrying. Also, you have mentioned topping up your batteries with 'water'. Again not specific enough and potentially damaging for the batteries themselves if your viewer doesn't appreciate that you mean to say 'distilled water', definitely NOT ordinary tap water. I hope: 1.) I'm not wrong 'cos I'd hate to look stupid when I'm only trying to be helpful & 2.) you actually find my feedback useful.

Hi Graham! Thank you for your sincere and helpfull feedback. I'm glad to hear you appreciate the videos I have been sharing. Take care, Jesse.
