When you mount the hard mono/poly on a Van, how durable are they to all the pot holes, and imperfect road bumps? Are the Hard panels better or flexible panels? I guess I am asking, what if I have to travel on gravel road bumpy, vibrating road for several hours, would the hard panels break (inside)? Are the flex panels better? Let me know. Thanks.

Well done video. Can you make a chapter for solar panels on solariums/pool glass houses?

Hi Jesse. I love your videos. I have some specific technical questions. I want to mount 2 x350W ETFE panels on the aluminium roof of my caravan. There are any number of reasons that make this a desirable solution however I have some specific questions about temperature and durability performance in this particular environment. How much convection cooling is achieved from the back of a flexible panel. How much conductive cooling is achieved through the back of a flexible panel. How much black body radiation from the front of the panel helps keep the panel cool. Can I assume if a panel has 1Kw radiation, at 20% efficiency the heating effect is equivalent to 800W onto a non solar surface. Are there any issues with delimitation. I think many of these questions would come from specific research and measurements. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't see the free calculator for panel efficiency ANYWHERE on your website like you said.

Thanks for your message Handy Mann; The calculator has been removed from the main website. Sorry for the confusion! All the best, Jesse.

Hello Jesse, I have been enjoying your videos and vast knowledge on the subject. I would like your opinion on the "CIGS" technology flexible solar panels. I just order 5 each 80 watt panels from Rich Solar for 400 watt total, pricy at $259 each but they say you can walk on them and that they pull power from early morning until the sun sets. 68" x 14" and self adhesive (good and bad) but they will lay flat with no wind resistance or extra road noise. Hoping it will do the trick on my little 24" Fleetwood Pulse RV. 12V 300Ah Lithium Iron Phosphate. Keep the videos coming, great work.

Congrats on your purchase! I am sure you will enjoy them: The weight advantage and ease of installation are great pro's for CIGS panels. I'm glad to hear you enjoy the videos. All the best, Jesse.

I’m actually very very new to this and learning loads from you thank you - I am interested in a full details on what you feel is the best full set up. So what type of batteries panels etc. So if you were to chose what brands and which ones would you use. That would be such an excellent help. I’m in the Uk now and France - when we can travel.

Thanks for your message @Spoil All, I am happy the videos are useful for you. As for your question what the best full set up is, this is a bit tricky to answers since it greatly depends on what the user requirements are.

Nice work! Do you want to do a video on calculating demand? I’ve researched a bit and mostly understand, but it still confuses me somewhat. Would it be easiest to convert everything to watts, then estimate watt hours - or go to amps?

Hi Dana, thanks for your feedback. Great suggestion! I will make a separate video on this.

It would be nice to better understand how to measure efficiency of a panel after some time has passed. Is it volts, amps, or ?? And can a consumer with a VOM measure this successfully? Or does the charge controller offer those values in most cases?

Hi Dennis, thanks for your message. Great topic suggestion, thanks. I will convert that into a dedicated video. Jesse.

I am curious if you are familiar with Merlin Flexible solar panels which are used on tractor trailers. They claim to be military grade which I have no idea what that means. What has been your experience with these type panels? Thank you.

Hi Anthony, thanks for your message. I have not worked with these panels yet, though you have spiked my interest. I will go and check them out.
